Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, <br />W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. H. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the communication of the League of California Municipalities <br />acknowledging letter of Mayor Rowland and extending good <br />wishes for the New Year, was received aud filed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the communication of Charles Fallert, Manager, District #14 <br />National Reemployment Service, extending sincere wishes for a <br />prosperous New Year, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, <br />the communication of Bert E. Dawson expressing his opinion <br />on dividing the city into four sections for private patrols, <br />was referred to the Police Commissioner, Police Chief and <br />City Attorney for investigation. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />It was moved by Trustee Smith, seconded by Brus and carried, <br />that in view of the necessity for immediate action in repair- <br />ing the Joint 0u£fall Sewer resulting from its partial <br />destruction, that an emergency be declared to exist and that <br />the proposal of L. Curtis to repair the Sewer at the mouth of <br />the Santa Ana River, on a cost plus fifteen percent basis, be <br />accepted and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to accept same. <br /> <br /> T~ustees Plummer W. Rowland. <br /> <br /> Noes, Trustees None. <br /> <br /> Absent, Trustees None. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, <br />the petition of the Veterans' Welfare Board for the caneel~ <br />lation of certain taxes assessed to Charles C. Brisco and <br />Joy L. Brisco, was granted and the Clerk inst~Gcted to advise <br />the County Auditor of the Council's action. <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Brutus and carried, the <br />resignation of Clyde E. Cave as the master electrician on the <br />examining board of the City for electricians, was accepted <br />with regrets. <br /> <br /> <br />
