Council Chambers Santa Aha City Hall. January ~th, 1937. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular session. ~eeting called to order by Mayor Rowla~xl. Present: Trus tees Plum~r W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. Absent: Trustees None. Each Trus tee having received a copy of the Minutes, further reading of the Minutes of December 21st, 1938, was dispensed with and the Minutes approved on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried. In Re League of Calif. Municipalities. In Re Communication Charles Fallert. In Re Comnunication Bert E. Dawson. Proposal of L. Curtis. In Re Petition of Vet. Welfare Board. In Re Resignation Clyde Z. Cave. Roll Call: Ayes, W. H. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, the communication of the League of California Municipalities acknowledging letter of Mayor Rowland and extending good wishes for the New Year, was received aud filed. . On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, the communication of Charles Fallert, Manager, District #14 National Reemployment Service, extending sincere wishes for a prosperous New Year, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Smith and carried, the communication of Bert E. Dawson expressing his opinion on dividing the city into four sections for private patrols, was referred to the Police Commissioner, Police Chief and City Attorney for investigation. . It was moved by Trustee Smith, seconded by Brus and carried, that in view of the necessity for immediate action in repair- ing the Joint 0u£fall Sewer resulting from its partial destruction, that an emergency be declared to exist and that the proposal of L. Curtis to repair the Sewer at the mouth of the Santa Ana River, on a cost plus fifteen percent basis, be accepted and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to accept same. T~ustees Plummer W. On motion of Trustee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, the petition of the Veterans' Welfare Board for the caneel~ lation of certain taxes assessed to Charles C. Brisco and Joy L. Brisco, was granted and the Clerk inst~Gcted to advise the County Auditor of the Council's action. # On motion of Trustee Penn, seconded by Brutus and carried, the resignation of Clyde E. Cave as the master electrician on the examining board of the City for electricians, was accepted with regrets.
