<br />On motion of Trustee Kelsey, seconded by Hill and carried,

<br />the report of H. M. NeighOour, Water 9uperintendant, on'
<br />
<br />Metropolitan water, was received and filed and comparative
<br />
<br />ooets ordered spread on the minutes, as follows:
<br />
<br /> ~uring the first thirty days in which the City of Santa
<br />Ana received Metropolitan water, we used
<br /> From the M.W.D. 8,811,800 cu.ft.
<br /> Pumped from City Wells 13,790,900 #
<br /> Total for the month ZO,6OE,400 cu.ft.
<br /> During the fiscal 'year 1940-41 we pumped 3918 acre feet of
<br />water. Should we continue taking water from the M.W.D. after
<br />· the sixty-day free period expires on September 24, at the
<br />same rate as for the past ,thirty days, it would amount to
<br />18?S acre feet per year, leaving ZO4Z acre feet to be pumped
<br />to equal last year's consumption.
<br /> ' Based on last year's consumption and pumping costs, the
<br />comparative costs of Santa Aha well water and water from the
<br />M.W.D. would be as follows:
<br /> From the M.W.D., 1878 ~cre feet $ $18.00 $28,140.00

<br />On motion of Trustee Hill, seconded by Yost and carried,

<br />designated Resolution No. 2985 and passed by the following

<br />On motion of Trustee Yost, seconded by Kelsey and carried,
<br />
<br />the application of the Alpha Beta Mkts. Inc. to erect a tent
<br />
<br />in which to hold a free food show, adjoining their market aI
<br />lOlO S. Main Street, September 12th and 13th, was granted
<br />
<br />subject to the approval of the Fire Chief.
<br />
<br />The Purchasing Agent reported that no bid having been receiw
<br />
<br />for city printing, on motion of Trustee Hill, seconded by
<br />
<br />Yost and carried, the Purchasing Agent was authorized to
<br />
<br />purchase'printing on the open market.
<br />
<br />More time was granted the committee to investigate the appli-
<br />cation of the Broadway Cab Company to change the minimum rat~
<br />for night taxicab service to twenty-five cents.
