<br />On motion of Trustee Kelsey, seconded by Bruns and
<br />carried, communication from the Fire Chief stating that
<br />Robert J. Cone was appointed as m emergency employee to
<br />fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of E.H.Burns,
<br />and that the following probationary appointments were
<br />made; M.C.Moore, as Captain, E.C.Heard, as Auto-fireman,
<br />W.A.White, as Auto-fireman and L.C.Ausmus, as Engineer,
<br />were approved with the exception of Valentine Lawson's
<br />appointment as a probationary hoseman.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Yost, seconded by Mandy and carried
<br />con~nunicationSfrom Isabel Stanley, Glenn L. Thorne,
<br />and Edith Watkins, protesting against bus loading zone
<br />on South side of West Third St. between Main and Sycamor,
<br />Sts., were received and referred to the Dept. of Public
<br />Ways and Dept. of Public Safety, with power to act.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Kelsey, seconded by Yost and
<br />carried, the report of Phil M. Brown, Secy. Civil Servic~
<br />Board relative to permanent appointment of George R.
<br />Whitney as patrolman; approval of increase in pay of
<br />Bertha M. Anderson, Police ~atron, to $151.50 per month;
<br />and approval of leave of absence requested by Hunter
<br />Leach, from March 14th to April 13th, 1943, was received
<br />and filed.
