Co~mcll Chamber Santa Aha City Hall January 5th, 1948. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular session. Meeting called to order by Mayor Smith. W. JoCheney, Present: Trustees /Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, R. Carson Smith. Absent: Trustees None Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of December 15th, 1947 and December 29th, 1947, further reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried. Yearwood In Re Heappointment Gilbert Chittock On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, copy of Resolution of Board of Supervisors covering formation of County Sanitation District No. l, together with letter from County Clerk, dated Dec. 15th, 1947, were received and filed. On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried, copy of communication addressed to Civil Service Board from Garage Supt. and Street Supt., advising of appointment of Seth W. Yearwood, as laborer, effective Jan. 2, 194@, wa~ received and filed. On motion, of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, copy of communication addressed to Civil Service Board from Acting Fire Chief, advising that Gilbert Chtttock resumed his duties in the Fire Depart- ment, ~ffective Dec. 31st, 1947, was received and filed.~ In He Termination of services - Personnel Clerk In Re Loading Zone Daniger Bros. On motion of Trustee Heed, seconded by Mandy and carried, communi from Secy. Civil Service Board advising of action terminating services of Ruth Keele,"Personnel Clerk, effective Jan. 18th, 1945, was recei and filed. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, request of Daniger Bros. that loading zone on the south side of W. 5th St. be moved 42 ft. west of its present location, was referred to Trustee Cheney and City Engineer for investigation and report back. In Re Request to remove curbing W.T. Cox Co. In Re Claim A.J.Gisler On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, request of W.T.Cox Co. to,remove a portion of curbing, said portion not to exceed 19 ft. in length, from the north side of Fruit St. appro~mat 100 ft. west of the center of Lincoln Ave., was referred to Trustee Cheney and City Engineer for investigation and report back. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, communic~ from Head, Wellington and Jacobs, Attorneys for Arthur J. Gisler, filin~ a claim against City of Santa Ana, in the amount of $1, for damages to property owned by Mr. Gisler, was referred to the Attorney. In Re Recommendation Traffic Safety Commission On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried, communication from Traffic Safety Commission requesting additional lights be installed on E. 4th St. between French and Santa Fe Tracks, was received and filed. Engineer reported that lights have been installed and additional lights are to be placed. In Re Appointment Traffic Safety Commission On recommendation of the Gommisslonand on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, Carl Ris was reappointed as a member of the Traffic Safety Commission; term to expire January 1st, 1~52. In Re Appointment Traffic Safety Comm. In He Loading zone Saunders & Co. On recommendation of the C~mm~£ssi~nand ~n motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, Gilbert Yorba was appointed as a member of the Traffic Safety Commission; term to expire January let, 19S1. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, request of Saundere & Co. for a loading zone at 108 No. Syc~ ore St., was referred to Trustee Cheney and City Engineer for investigation and report back. In Re Appl. Taxicab Permit Rainbow Cab Co. ~ , In Re Change in parsing Broadway from 1st 8th to In Re Install lights Main & Dyer; Main & Goetz Application of Robert G. Sturges, dba Rainbow Cab Co. for permit for calendar year 1B4S was read, and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, permit was granted. On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Reed and carried, communi~ from City Engineer relative to proposed change in parking on Broadway from First to Eighth Streets, was held over until next meeting. On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Mandy and carried, overhead street lights were ordered installed at the intersections of Main Street and Dyer Road, and Main Street and Goetz A~enue. In Re Purchase street signs On reconumendation of the City Engir~e~ and on motion of Trustee Heed, seconded by Chandler and carried, 870 street signs are to be purchased from Standard Equipment Company, at price of $7.878 complete, plus freight and plus tax. In Re Beverage Applications On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage applications made by John L. & Lola P. Saldana, 1724 W. 4th St., Frank Musselman Jr. Charles C. & Jack F. Weis, ~18 French St., were received and filed.
