Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />November 1st, 1948. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Gity Council met in regular session. <br />Meeting called to order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Presentr Trustees WoJ. Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, <br /> Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, <br /> R. Carson Smith. <br />Absent: Trustees None <br /> <br />Each member of the~City Council having received copies <br />of the Minutes of October 18th, 1948, further reading <br />o£ the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion <br />of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried. <br /> <br />In Re On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and <br /> <br />Bids <br />Construct curb and <br />sidewalk - S.A. <br />Memorial Park <br /> <br /> carried, the <br />Clerk was authorized to open bids covering the construction of curb <br />and sidewalks in Santa Ana Memorial Park, as follows: <br /> <br />Bid of Stanley T. Woods: <br />Item Unit Price Total Grand Total <br />-T-- $ o.24 $ 3VlV 7 <br />2 .93 1887.90 $ 5605.77~ <br />Certified check in the amcunt of $560.58 accompanied bid. <br /> <br />Bid of Walter J. Engineer, Auditor and Park Superintendent for <br /> <br />checking and recommendation and to ascertain if City could do the <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bids <br />Const. rock walks <br />and parking areas <br />S.A.Memorial Park <br /> <br />work at a lower cost than as <br />On motion of T~ustee Mandy, <br /> <br /> set out in bids. <br /> <br />seconded by Reed and carried, <br /> <br />the Clerk <br /> <br />was authorized to open bids covering the construction of rock walks <br /> <br />and parsing areas in Santa Ana Memorial Park. The Clerk stated <br /> <br />In Re <br />Joint 0utfall <br />Sewer Minutes <br /> <br />that no bids were received. <br />,, <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Minutes of the Executive Board of the Joint Outfall Sewer meeting <br /> <br />held at Anaheim, October 7th, 1948, were received, aoproved and <br /> <br />In Re <br />Beverage <br />Applications <br /> <br />filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br />notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic <br />beverage applications made by Ancle B. Watson, 116 No. Main St., <br /> <br />and Stanley Johnston and John H. Matthews, 325 W. 4th St., were <br /> <br />In Re <br />Taxicab <br />Applications <br /> <br />received and filed. <br />,, <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, <br /> <br />seconded by Cha~Aler and <br /> <br />carried, <br /> <br />applications of Glenn Smith, Walter G. Bozeman and Earl White, to <br /> <br /> In Rs <br />Communication <br />H.E.Stevenson <br /> <br />drive taxicabs were granted and permits ordered issued. <br /> <br />Communication was read from H.E.Stevenson commending the <br /> <br />Fire Chief <br /> <br />and his men on their performance of duty when fire occurred at his <br /> <br />store located at 901 W. 4th St., and on motion of Trustee Reed, <br /> <br />In Re <br />Request <br />Sanitary Laundry <br /> <br />seconded by Cheney and carried, communication was received and file( <br />On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee <br /> <br />Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, request of Sanitary Laundry <br /> <br />for permission to construct two thirty-five foot driveways on <br /> <br />frontage of their property located in the 2~00 block South Main St.. <br /> <br />was granted. <br /> <br /> <br />
