City Clerk ~ouncil Chamber Santa Ana City Hall. February 7th, 1949. 7:30 P.M. City Council met in regular session. Meetlng called to order by the Mayor. Present: Trustees W. J. Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, Allen A. Mandy, Virgil H. Reed, R. Carson Smith. Absent: Trustees None. Each memOer of t~e City Council having received copies of the Minutes or January 19th, 1949, further reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried. In Re On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Leave of Absence R. M. Crookshank request of R. M. Crookshank, City Judge, to leave the State of California from January 3ist to February 1st, 1949, inclusive, In Re Communication Chamber of Commerce was officially granted. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the communication of the Chamber of Commerce was received and filed, cormnending the Council and Chief of Police with reference to enforcement of the Parking Meter Ordinance, urging off-street In Re City Nursery parking and a survey of loading . On motion of Trustee Chandler, zones. seconded by Chenoy and carried, communication of Park Superintendent was received and filed with reference to action of Forestry Board that the nine acres of city owned property located south of Delhi Road would be suitable In Re Meeting of Park Administrators for a city nursery. The invitation of Dale Griggs, Park Supt., to attend a meeting on March 4th of the Park Administrators of South California at the Community Clubhouse, was received and filed on motion of In Re Advertise for Steel Poles. Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for six steel poles to be used for the lighting of ball field in the S.A. Mem- In He Advertise for Storage Batteries orial Park; bids to be opened February 21st, 1949. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed snd carried, the on Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids/142 single cell lead storage batteries for the Fire Department; bids to be opened In Re Contracts with Sully-Miller Co. February 21st, 1949. On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and carried, the bonds of Sully-Miller Contracting Company for the improve- ments of East Fourth, Grand and North Bristol Streets, were ordered ~eleased in accordanoewith communications of the City Engineer stating that work had been completed.
