Cottrell <br /> <br />It was moved by Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />that the City Council send a letter of recommendation to the <br />Civil Service Board on the permanent appointment of John Garthe, <br />Fire Chief, as of January 16, 1949. <br /> <br />Communications of the Southern Counties Gas Company, S. A. Bldg. <br />and Loan Assn., and City Engineer were read relative to completiol <br />of contract and work in Tract No. 1192. On motion of Trustee <br />Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the matter was tabled <br />until work is completed and the Clerk was instructed to notify <br />the a.A. Bldg. & Loan Assn. of the Council's action. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, the <br />communication of T. Roesch, Sr., 500 S. Artesi <br />St., Lewis C. Elliott, 222 Spurgeon St. and Edmond T. McMahon, <br />403 W. 4th St., were received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Heed and carried, the <br />application of Ralph Culp to drive a taxicab for the Broadway Cab <br /> <br />Company, was granted. <br />,, <br />On motion of Trustee Heed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the <br />application of Joe's Super Fooa Market for loading zone on Broad- <br />way between let and 2nd Streets, was referred to Trustee Cheney <br /> <br />and the City Engineer for recommendation and report. <br />,, <br />on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the <br />request of the Pacific Electric Railway Company for change of <br />stop signs and additional loading zone on East Third Street near <br />the Union Stage Depot, was referred to a committee of Trustees <br />Cheney and Mandy to report back. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Heed, seconded oy Chandler and carried, the <br />communication of the City Engineer, recommending that easement <br />given for sewer purposes on property now occupied by the Rossmore <br />Hotel, be quit-claimed or abandoned, was tabled. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Ree* and carried, the <br />claim of James J. Cottrell in the sum of $58.30 for alleged dama- <br />ges to automobile resulting from fallen tree on tneeast side of N. <br />Main Street, was referred to Attorney for recommendation. <br /> <br /> <br />
