<br />The recommendation of the Chief of Police was heard and on motion
<br />of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Resolution
<br />to establish a boulevard stop at the intersection of Wellington
<br />
<br />and Lacy Streets, was not adopted.

<br />Communication of City Engineer was read reference deduction of a
<br />full day's pay from salary of Kenneth Merrigan on Saturday, July
<br />2nd, 1949, when such deduction should have been applied on a
<br />hourly rate basis. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by
<br />Chandler and carried, communication was received, filed and if
<br />any inequities in regard to payroll for employees have been made
<br />they shsll be adjusted retroactive to July 1st, 1949 and if any
<br />employee lays off for a half day, he shall be deducted foI' a half
<br />day's work.

<br />Communication was read from T. Gray Johnson of Business Institute,
<br />reference to a solution to problem of a handicapped veteran park-
<br />ing his car on the street while attending School. On motion of
<br />Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, communication
<br />was received, filed and committee appointed to check on the matter
<br />and submit tentative amendment to Parking Meter Ordinance' granting
<br />parking space to paraplegic veterans. Chairman appointed Trustee
<br />Mandy, Chief of Police and Attorney, as committee.

<br />Communication was read from Santa Ana Junior Chamber of Commerce
<br />submitting their Budget for the fiscal year July 1st, 1949 to June
<br />30th, 1950. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and
<br />carried, Chairman was authorized to contact both the Senior and
<br />Junior Chambers of Commerce, at an early date, for the Council to
<br />discuss contracts ~for advertising.

<br />On motion of Trust'ee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br />William Cherry was appointed, as a member of Casa de Santa Ana
<br />Committee, to fill vacancy created by resignation of Phil C. Brook~
<br />On recommendation of the committee, and on motion of Trustee Mandy,
<br />seconded by Chandler and carried, the bid of the Santa Aha
<br />Independent, was accepted on City advertising, for the period
<br />
<br />July 30th,~ 1949 to August 1st, 1950.

<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, if parti~
<br />involved are in agreement as to price, City Attorney was instructe~
<br />to withdraw condemnation proceedings immediately and proper
<br />authorities to enter into escrow instructions with Frank Borchard,
<br />et al, for property located on South Flower Street south of
<br />Edinger, due to the fact that the land is to be given to the City
<br />with stipulation that City pay for improvements of asphalt paving
<br />and curbs for the 'full length as required for · 60 foot street.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, the
<br />City Attorney was authorized and instructed to amend the Ordinance
<br />to conform to the type of parking meters available at this time,
<br />for off-street parking, such amendment to be ready at the next
<br />meeting.
