<br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, the
<br /> following Ordinance entitled:
<br />
<br /> "An Ordinance of the City of Santa Aha,
<br /> California, fixing the amount of money
<br /> ascertained to carry on the various depart-
<br /> ments of the City of Santa Ana, and to pay
<br /> the bonded indebtedness falling due for the
<br /> current year 1949-1950, and fixing ~he rate
<br /> of taxation for the current year 1949- '1950,
<br /> designating the number of cents on each
<br /> $100.00 for the various funds of said City,
<br /> on the whole of the taxable property of said
<br /> City as set by the County Assessor of the
<br /> County of Orange, State of California and
<br /> equalized by the Board of Supervisors of said
<br /> County, and hereby levied on the whole of the
<br /> taxable property of said City"
<br />
<br /> was introduced, read, considered and placed on file for second
<br />
<br /> reading.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the
<br /> City Council, as a whole, wes authorized to serve as a committee,
<br /> to meet with the representatives of the Santa Ana City Employees'
<br /> Association, and officials of the Fire and Police Departments, to
<br /> discuss the adoption of a five-day week plan for City Employees.
<br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the
<br /> request of President, Santa Ana City Employees' Association that
<br /> City Council execute necessary papers so that Santa Ana contract
<br /> with State Employees' Retirement Act be brought up to date, was
<br /> referred to the City Attorney.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br /> notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic
<br /> beverage applications made by Cornish J. and Elon L. Roehm, 1055
<br /> E. 4th St., and Helen D. and Paul M. Johnson, 320 E. 4th St.,
<br />
<br /> were received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the
<br /> application of Edward A. Ruddy to drive taxicabs, was granted and
<br /> ~,ermlt ordered issued.

<br /> Cox~.~unication was read from Guaranty Chevrolet Co., requesting
<br /> unloadin~ zone in front of the Parts Department on Sycamore St.,
<br /> between First and Walnut Streets, and on motion of Trustee Chandle
<br /> seconded by Mandy and carried, request was referred to Trustee
<br /> Cheney and City Engineer four recommendation.

<br />'~'on~motlon of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br /> reports of the Police Department and Juvenile Bureau, for July,
<br /> 1949, were received and filed.
<br /> On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Mandy and carried, Mayo~
<br /> and Clerk were authorized to execute lease No. 1357 between City
<br /> and California National Guard, beginning April 1st, 19~9 and
<br />
<br /> ending March 31st, 1954, at a total rental of $5.00, for building
<br />
<br />'of a shelter for storage of trucks at the Armory, at Community
<br /> Center.
<br />
<br /> On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Mandy,
<br /> seconded by Chandler and carried, request of Harold Reck for
<br /> ~,ermission to establish a funeral escort service, was denied.
