On motion cf Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the Clerk was authorized to open bids covering labor and equipment required to pull and dispose of from 900 to 1200 orange trees in Prentice Park, ae follows: Bid of A. E. Fowler & Sons~ Pull or haul the trees off of the property or burn them on the property for the sum of $3.00 per tree. Check in the amount of $360.00 accompanied bid. Bid of James P. Loving: $2.50 per tree to furnish labor and equipment to pull and dispose of 900 orange trees providing a permit is obtainable to burn all brush and stumps on this location. Alternate bid of additional fifty cents per tree to furnish the necessary equipment and labor to pull and dispose of 900 trees, and haul stump butts to a regular dump for disposal. To pull and dispose of some 200 orange stumps, $2.00 per stump. Bid bond in the amount of $275.00 accompanied bid. On recommendation of the Park Superintendent and on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, bids were rejected due to the fact that there is a large crop of oranges on the trees and a savings of approximately $5000.00 to $7000.00 would be made if trees were not removed at this time; Clerk to notify bidders of reason why bids were rejected.
