<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br />application of. Eagle Oil & Refining Co. Inc. for a permit to
<br />construct and operate a serve yourself filling station on the
<br />southeast cornmr of Berkeley and South Main Streets, w~s referred
<br />to committee for investigation and to report back at the next
<br />meeting. Chairman appointed Trustee Mandy, Attorney, Fire Chief
<br />and Fire Marshal, as committee.

<br />A petition was read signed by Paul Dutton, Acting Chairman for
<br />thirteen gasoline distributors requesting the enactment of an
<br />Ordinance pertaining to the dispensing of motor fuels in filling
<br />stations by none other than persons holding a valid business
<br />or persons regularly employed in the operation of such business.
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and carried,
<br />petition was referred to committee for investigation and to report
<br />back at the next meeting. Chairman appointed Trustee Mandy,
<br />Attorney, Fire Chief and Fire Marshal, as committee.

<br />On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee
<br />Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, request of Nylin P.
<br />for permission to extend the existing approach to the South Main
<br />Street entrance of the new addition to Firestone Store, 106 East
<br />First St., approximately fifteen feet south, so as to provide
<br />entrance to the door in the new addition, was granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br />application of Rev. J.S.Hall, of the St. Joseph Church of God in
<br />Christ, to solicit funds, for a period of 60 days, was granted.
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br />Juvenile Bureau report for February, 1949, was received and filed.
<br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried,
<br />Clerk .was authorized to advertise for bids covering the fumishing
<br />of transformers for use in the Santa Ana Memorial Park; bids' to
<br />be opened April 4th, 1949.

<br />ing of lighting panelboard for use in the Santa Ana Memorial Park;
<br />bids to be opened April 4th, 1949.

<br />Communication was read from City Engineer stating that County
<br />Supervisors have awarded the contract for the reconstruction of
<br />the drainage ditch south of Santa Ara, and it will be necessary
<br />for the City to obtain the right-of-way on Flower Street between
<br />Edinger Street and the North line of Tracts 289 and llgl. On
<br />motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, Attorney
<br />was instructed to contact Attorney R.C. Mize and Frank Borchard,
<br />et al, before condemnation proceedings are started.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, the Clef
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids covering the furnishing of
<br />one 3/4 ton, stake~bed, pick-up truck, for use of the Park Depart-
<br />ment; bids to be opened April 4th, 1949.
