On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was received, filed and Street Commissioner authorized to make a surve' in regard to need of benches and revenue derived therefrom and to report back. Communication was read from Planning Engineer stating that Plannin Commission recommended Council take up matter of proposed Santa Aha Freeway improvements with State Highway Commission, particular with reference to through streets. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, matter referred to committee with power to act. Chairman appointed Trustee Cheney, City Engineer and PlanniNg Engineer as committee. . On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, notifications of the State Board of Equal~ation of alcoholic beverage applications made by Frank A. and Leona W. Brtggs, 510 No. Main St., Lewis C. Elliott, 222 Spurgeon St., ~nd Lo6is Armendariz and Phillip M. Rivera, 810 W. 4th St., were received and filed. On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, application of Lyman Nelson for permission to conduct a commercial poultry yard at 2620Santiago St.~ was referred to'Trustee Reed fox investigation and recommendatton. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, applications of Rosalie M. Cart and Edwin E. Newman to drive taxi- cabs, were granted and permits ordered issued. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, application of Edmond T. McMahan for permission to operate a pool hall at 403 W. 4th St., was referred to committee for investigation and report back. Chairman appointed Trustee Mandy and Chief Of Police as committee. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, request of Mrs. Joseph Prevost, Sr. for better street lighting at corners of Walnut and Orange and Pine and Orange, was referred to Trustee Cheney and City Engineer with power to act. . On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, request of Santa Ana Laundry for three l0 minute parking spaces at llll E. ~th St., and two l0 minute pa~king spaces at lll~ E. 4th St., was referred to committee for investigation and report back. Chairman appointed Trustee Cheney and City Engineer as committee. Application was read from Black & Green Cab Co. for permission to place in service one additional taxicab and permission to add thre~ additional taxicabs at a future date. On motion of Trustee Mandy seconded by Reed and carried, permit was granted for one additiona taxicab and request for the three additional taxicabs referred to Taxicab Commission for study, recommendation and report back. A communication was read signed by three property owners request- ing that necessary repairs be made on the 18 ft. strip on Flower St. between Anahurst and St. Gertrude, Anahurst from Flower to Par!
