On motion of <br /> Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, communication was <br /> received, filed and Street Commissioner authorized to make a surve' <br /> in regard to need of benches and revenue derived therefrom and to <br /> report back. <br /> <br />Communication was read from Planning Engineer stating that Plannin <br />Commission recommended Council take up matter of proposed Santa <br />Aha Freeway improvements with State Highway Commission, particular <br />with reference to through streets. On motion of Trustee Reed, <br />seconded by Mandy and carried, matter referred to committee with <br />power to act. Chairman appointed Trustee Cheney, City Engineer <br /> <br />and PlanniNg Engineer as committee. <br />. <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, <br />notifications of the State Board of Equal~ation of alcoholic <br />beverage applications made by Frank A. and Leona W. Brtggs, 510 <br /> <br />No. Main St., Lewis C. Elliott, 222 Spurgeon St., ~nd Lo6is <br />Armendariz and Phillip M. Rivera, 810 W. 4th St., were received <br />and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />application of Lyman Nelson for permission to conduct a commercial <br />poultry yard at 2620Santiago St.~ was referred to'Trustee Reed fox <br />investigation and recommendatton. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />applications of Rosalie M. Cart and Edwin E. Newman to drive taxi- <br />cabs, were granted and permits ordered issued. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, <br />application of Edmond T. McMahan for permission to operate a pool <br />hall at 403 W. 4th St., was referred to committee for investigation <br />and report back. Chairman appointed Trustee Mandy and Chief Of <br />Police as committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, request <br />of Mrs. Joseph Prevost, Sr. for better street lighting at corners <br />of Walnut and Orange and Pine and Orange, was referred to Trustee <br /> <br />Cheney and City Engineer with power to act. <br />. <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, request <br />of Santa Ana Laundry for three l0 minute parking spaces at llll E. <br />~th St., and two l0 minute pa~king spaces at lll~ E. 4th St., was <br /> <br />referred to committee for investigation and report back. Chairman <br /> <br />appointed Trustee Cheney and City Engineer as committee. <br /> <br />Application was read from Black & Green Cab Co. for permission to <br />place in service one additional taxicab and permission to add thre~ <br />additional taxicabs at a future date. On motion of Trustee Mandy <br />seconded by Reed and carried, permit was granted for one additiona <br />taxicab and request for the three additional taxicabs referred to <br />Taxicab Commission for study, recommendation and report back. <br /> <br />A communication was read signed by three property owners request- <br />ing that necessary repairs be made on the 18 ft. strip on Flower <br />St. between Anahurst and St. Gertrude, Anahurst from Flower to Par! <br /> <br /> <br />
