On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, <br /> request was referred to Trustee Cheney and City Engineer for tnve~ <br /> <br /> igation and report back. <br /> . <br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, Annual <br /> report and report for December of the Police Department and <br /> Juvenile Bureau report for December, were received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, Annual <br /> ~eport of the Fire Department was received and filed. <br /> A petition was read signed by fifteen property owners complaining <br /> about drainage ditch on the north side of Myrtle between Baker an~ <br /> Bristol Streets, and communication from City Engineer was read <br /> explaining reasons for condition of said street. On motion of <br /> Trustee Cheney, seconded by Reed and carried, communications were <br /> received, filed and Clerk authorized to furn1~sh copy of Engineer's <br /> letter to petitioners. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried, Mayor <br /> and Clerk were authorized to execute lease dated March 1st, <br /> <br /> 1949, between City of Santa'Ana and County of Orange covering <br /> rental of Committee Room at Community Center for use of Military <br /> Order of Purple Heart, for a term of one year, at a rental of <br /> $20.00 per month. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, Mayor <br />and Clerk were authorized to execute agreement dated Jan. llth, <br />194~, between City a~d Vic and Marian A. Silver reference removal <br />of any and all portions of any building projecting over, into or <br />upon any portion of Seventeenth Street, within sixty days written <br />notice so to do; said agreement to be recorded at the expense of <br /> <br /> the property owners. <br />,, <br />Clarence Sprague, Attorney, appeared on behalf of Blower Bros. <br />relative to variance for construction of mortuary on 17th and <br />Grand Avenues. Harry B10dget, Attorney, for protestants stated <br />his reasons for objecting to this type of business. The followir <br />named persons opposing the variance were heard: Messrs. Chas. <br />Meyer, Wm. Heath, Carl Czaplinski, F. James, Fred Rohrs, Mrs. <br />Allsbach and Mrs. E.R.Allison. On motion of Trustee Reed,. <br />seconded by Cheney and carried, matter was tabled until next <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Communication end Res~olution No. 231 of the Planning Commission <br />recommending amendment to Zoning Ordinance by reclassifying certai <br />property lying north of First Street and west of Sullivan Street, <br />from R-2 Residence District to the M-1 Manufacturing District, in <br />accordance with application of James N. Hentges, were read and on <br />motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Clerk <br />was instructed to publish a notice of hearing in a newspaper of <br />general Circulation, ten days prior to the next meeting of the <br />Council on February 7th, 1~49, relative to reclassification of <br />above property. <br /> <br /> <br />
