On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, communication from Superintendent of Recreation advising that Fran L. Bowman has been.appointed to the Recreation Commission, for a four year term, effective Dsc. 3, 1949, was received and filed. . On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, communication from District Manager, Orange County Mosquito Abate- merit District advising that term of office of W.D. Obarr expires December 31, 1949, was tabled until next meeting. # Communication was read from City Engineer advising of dangerous condition which has developed on No. Flower St. by the extension of Riverside Drive westerly from Flower St., at a point where the center parking strip blocks egress and ingress from the east side of Flower St., and recommending that an opening be cut in the center parking strip to allow traffic access to the east side of No. Flower Street. 0n motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the recommendation was approved and City Engineer instructed to submit to the Council the cost of elimlnat~ or narrowing the parking strip on No. Flower Street. # Communication was read from Orange County Builders' Association suggesting that a permit fee be charged for dry wall construction and thst increased revenue to accrue to the Building Department. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, communication was r~ceived, filed and request denied. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, request cf Robert S. Farrar, Principal, Senior High School, for permission to have Pine Street from the west side of Patton to the east side of Flower S~reet marked off, by means of saw horses, during the hours of 12:45 P.M. to 3:40 P.M. Monday through Friday, for driving tralnin~ program, was referred to the Chief of Police to report back. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the application of Harry Hall to conduct the business of dealing in motor vehicles at 1~5 South Main Street, was granted. On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, notification of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage applications made by Arthur O. Straub, Jr. 611 Poinsetti~ St., and FiQyd M. and Rex E. Johnson, Lyle V. Lackey and Floyd M. Phillips, 220 E. 3rd St., were received and filed. # On motion cf Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the application cf W.M.Thacker to drive taxicab was granted and permit ordered issued. On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, an overhead light was ordered installed on the south side of Santa Clara Avenue opposite North Olive Lane.
