Bowman has been.appointed to the Recreation Commission, for a <br /> <br />four year term, effective Dsc. 3, 1949, was received and filed. <br />. <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, <br />communication from District Manager, Orange County Mosquito Abate- <br />merit District advising that term of office of W.D. Obarr expires <br /> <br />December 31, 1949, was tabled until next meeting. <br /># <br />Communication was read from City Engineer advising of dangerous <br />condition which has developed on No. Flower St. by the extension <br />of Riverside Drive westerly from Flower St., at a point where the <br />center parking strip blocks egress and ingress from the east side <br />of Flower St., and recommending that an opening be cut in the <br />center parking strip to allow traffic access to the east side of <br />No. Flower Street. 0n motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by <br />Chandler and carried, the recommendation was approved and City <br />Engineer instructed to submit to the Council the cost of elimlnat~ <br /> <br />or narrowing the parking strip on No. Flower Street. <br /># <br />Communication was read from Orange County Builders' Association <br />suggesting that a permit fee be charged for dry wall construction <br />and thst increased revenue to accrue to the Building Department. <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br />communication was r~ceived, filed and request denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, <br />request cf Robert S. Farrar, Principal, Senior High School, for <br />permission to have Pine Street from the west side of Patton to <br />the east side of Flower S~reet marked off, by means of saw horses, <br />during the hours of 12:45 P.M. to 3:40 P.M. Monday through Friday, <br />for driving tralnin~ program, was referred to the Chief of Police <br />to report back. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the <br />application of Harry Hall to conduct the business of dealing in <br />motor vehicles at 1~5 South Main Street, was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, <br />notification of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic <br />beverage applications made by Arthur O. Straub, Jr. 611 Poinsetti~ <br />St., and FiQyd M. and Rex E. Johnson, Lyle V. Lackey and Floyd M. <br /> <br />Phillips, 220 E. 3rd St., were received and filed. <br /># <br />On motion cf Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the <br />application cf W.M.Thacker to drive taxicab was granted and <br />permit ordered issued. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee <br />Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, an overhead light was <br />ordered installed on the south side of Santa Clara Avenue opposite <br />North Olive Lane. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the City Engineer'and on motion of T~ustee <br />Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, a sixty day extensi°n of <br />time was granted J.W.Morgensen on his contract for sinking of a <br /> <br /> <br />
