Council Chamber Santa A~ City Hall February 20, 1950. 2:00 P.M. City Council met in regular session. Meeting called to order by the Mayor. Present: Trustees Absent: Trustees W.J.Cheney, Courtney R. Chandler, John W. Martin Jr., Virgil H. Reed, Allen A. Mandy. None Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of February 6th, 1950, further reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and apprSved on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried. # In Re Petitions 4th St. parking A petition was read signed by 187 downtown merchants protesting parallel parking on Fourth Street. Frank E. Evans appeared before the Board stating 100% of the merchants strongly opposed changing the parking on 4th Street. The Clerk again read communication from Traffic Safety Commission recommending that parallel parking replace vertical parking on 4th Street. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Oheney and carried, the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission was disapproved In Re Petition Broadway ~arallel parking and petition filed. # A petition was re~d signed by 48 downtown merchants protesting parallel parking on $th Street and on Broadway. Harry Macros appeared before the B~a~d protesting parallel parking on Broadway. Frank E. Evans and Mac Guttm~n stated their reasons for opposing parallel parking. On motion of Trustee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, petition was referred to Council to t~ke under ~n Re Award of bid Squad truck Fire Dept. ment for further action. # On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the bid of W.W. Woods, in the amount of $12,618.79 was accepted covering the furnishing In Re Request Housewivess Anti-Smudge Committee of a squad truakfor the Fire Department. On motion of Tx-astee Reed, seconded by Chandler and carried, the request of Mrs, B.C.Clark, Chairman, Housewives~ Anti-Smudge Commlttee to solicit signatures for the purpose of smudge contro~ at the northeast corner of 4th and Sycamore Streets and the west corner of 4th and Main Streets, for the period February 22nd In Re Minutes J.O.Sewer to March 8th inclusive, was granted. # On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, the Minutes of ~he Executive Board of the Joint 0utfall Sewer Meeting held at Anaheim, February 2nd, 1950, were received, approved and In Re Communication Southwest Airways Co. filed. # On motion of Tra~stee Martin, seconded by Reed and ca~ried, oommmulication from Southwest Airways Company, was received and In Re Communication Div. of Hys. Bpeed limit on Grand Ave. filed. # Communication was read from District Engineer, Division of advising that order establishing a 35 mile hour zone on Grand Ave., was rescinded, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by In Re Communication ~lmer R.
