Pyramid No. $1 In Re Application to solicit funds by Martin and carried, the City Attorney was instructed to furnis] w~itten opinion on the legal procedure to dispose of lot. # On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, Council as a whole, was appointed, to prepare a Resolution to provide for disposal of surplus property of the City. , On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, th, Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for sale of 5.51 acres of property owned by the City located at North Main Street and Santa Ana Boulevard. # Mr. W.F.Van Meter appeared before the Board representing a group of property owners protesting granting of variance to Mildred McNeal, 1020 No. Baker Street. Messrs. Milton E. Johnson, James D. Braden, J. Arthur Whitney and Mrs. D.V.Linville also prote~ted granting of this variance. On motion of Trustee Heed, seconded by Cheney and carried, the action of the Council at meeting held March 20th, 1950, with reference to the Mildred McNe~ variance was rescinded. On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Martin and carried, action bf the Planning Commission on the McNeal variance was Upheld and variance' denied. A petition for decontrol of ~entals' was read and on motion of Tz-,stee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, petition was taken under advisement to permit Building Department, Utility Departmen' Housing Authority, Planning Office and other City Departments to review and check the petition and Clerk instructed to forward copy of petition to the Area Rent Advisory Board and Office of Housing Expediter. Opinion was read from City Attorney reference gasoline storage tanks in Residental Distrlo.ts. On motion of Tr-.,stee Martin, seconded by Reed and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance granted to Claude M. and Elaine E. Hunter to permit installation of a 550 gallon, under- ground gasoline storage tank and hand pump at 165$ East Fourth Street, with the condition Ghat no gasoline or other liquid store~ in said tank be sold to others, and that said tank be placed in the rear one-half cf ~he lot.' # On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the recommendation cf the Planning .Commission was approved and variance granted to John H. and Mary F. DeTer to permit a reduct- ion in th~ rear yard requirement at 2505 Valencia Avenue to seven feet to allow an addition to a single family residence. # On m. otlon of ~Trustee Chandler, seconded by Martin and carried, the req%{est 'of Sclots of Santa Ana, Pyramid No. ~1 that license fee to hold the Ward 0ircus June 7th and 8th be waived, was denied and permission granted for use of Municipal Bowl. . On motion of Trustee Chandler, seconded by Cheney and carried, the application of Johnson Chapel African Methodist Church to solicit funds, for a period not to exceed ninety days, was granted. #
