Brotherhood <br /> <br />of Service - <br />Solicit Funds <br /> <br /> Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried, Clerk was <br /> instructed to advise him that due to traffic ~ongestion <br /> at 4th and Bush Sts.$ha$ Safeway parking lot at 1st and <br /> Main; Thrifty Drug Co. parking lot on E. 4th at Spurgeon <br /> or Baldwin Auto park at No. Broadway between 5th and 6th <br /> would be more preferable for this exhibit. <br /> <br /> 0n motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Deckert and <br /> carried, report of S.L. Lowry, Coordinator Civilian <br /> Defense, dated Jan. 15, 1945, relative to disposition <br /> of medical supplies and other merchandise, was received <br /> and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Deckert and <br /> carried, minutes of meetings of Executive Board of Joint <br /> 0utfall Sewer, held at Anaheim, December 28th, 1944 and <br /> January 5th, 1945, were received and filed. <br /> <br /> On recommendation of the Chief of Police and on motion <br /> of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and carried, the <br /> appointment of Irvin H. Rogge, as patrolman, effective <br /> January 19th, 1945, was approved. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and <br />carried, application of Powell Neon Sign Co. to hang a <br />neon sign for the C.S.O. at 114 So. Main St., was <br />granted and sign ordered hung under supervision of <br />Electrical Inspector. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, applications of Vincent B. Mitchell, Marion E. <br />Frederick, J.H.Nicholson and Kelsey A. Woolever to drive <br />taxicabs for the Broadway Cab Co., were granted and <br />Clerk instructed to issue permits. <br /> <br />,, <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, application of Louis R. Acosta to conduct an <br />invitational dance at the V.F.W. Hall, 5th and Broadway, <br />Sunday, Feb. llth, was denied and Clerk instructed to <br />advise Mr. Acosta of such action and future applicants <br />to appear before the Council. <br /> <br />Request of National Brotherhood of Service to hold its <br />annual "Brotherhood Day" flower sale on Saturday, Feb. <br />17th in support of its free services to the blind and <br />shut-i~sof the State, was read and on motion of Trustee <br />Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried, the request was <br />granted. <br /> <br /> <br />
