Gross 301 Communication f~om Chamber of Commerce relative to cooperation of City, City Council and Orange County Supervisors toward development of a civic center, was read, On m6tion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried Mayo~ was authorized to appoint a committee of three and request the County Board of Supervisors to appoint a like committee in an effort to develop a combined civic center as studied by the Chamber of Commerce. On m)tlon of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and carried, communication from Co~mty Clerk, together with certified copy of minute order passed by the Orange County Board of Supervisors November 23rd, 1946 showing canvass of absentee ballot returns and the completion of the ~anvass of all returns of November §th, 1946 General Election, was received and filed. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried Harold Teel, Director of Recreation, continue in his duties, at the same salary he has been receiving, and that~he be authorized to employ such help as may be needed, at the same salary scale heretofore in effect, to carry on'the City Recreation program, all until a Recreation Commission may be appointed and installed under the new Recreation Commission Ordinance and that Attorney be granted more time to investigate validity of tax rate as set up in Recreation Commission Ordinance. Com~uication from Secretary Planning Commission reco~ending that set-back lines be established through- out the length of Bristol St. in county territory and that~the Council request the Board of Supervisors to establish such set-back lines on Bristol St. as may be required, was read. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Mayor was appointed as a committee of one to contact the Board of Supervisors relative to est ment of such set-back lines as may be required but that they be not less than the minimum established thereon by the City of Santa Ana. Communication from Chester S. Gross stating that upon return f~om armed forces he wqs placed on salary of patrolman and requesting detective's pay retroactive as of September l, 1946, was read. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried request was referred to Civil Service Commission to report back to Council.
