Gross <br /> <br />301 <br /> <br />Communication f~om Chamber of Commerce relative to <br />cooperation of City, City Council and Orange County <br />Supervisors toward development of a civic center, was <br />read, <br /> <br />On m6tion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried <br />Mayo~ was authorized to appoint a committee of three and <br />request the County Board of Supervisors to appoint a <br />like committee in an effort to develop a combined civic <br />center as studied by the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />On m)tlon of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and <br />carried, communication from Co~mty Clerk, together with <br />certified copy of minute order passed by the Orange <br />County Board of Supervisors November 23rd, 1946 showing <br />canvass of absentee ballot returns and the completion of <br />the ~anvass of all returns of November §th, 1946 General <br />Election, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried <br />Harold Teel, Director of Recreation, continue in his <br />duties, at the same salary he has been receiving, and <br />that~he be authorized to employ such help as may be <br />needed, at the same salary scale heretofore in effect, <br />to carry on'the City Recreation program, all until a <br />Recreation Commission may be appointed and installed <br />under the new Recreation Commission Ordinance and that <br />Attorney be granted more time to investigate validity of <br />tax rate as set up in Recreation Commission Ordinance. <br /> <br />Com~uication from Secretary Planning Commission <br />reco~ending that set-back lines be established through- <br />out the length of Bristol St. in county territory and <br />that~the Council request the Board of Supervisors to <br />establish such set-back lines on Bristol St. as may be <br />required, was read. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and <br />carried, the Mayor was appointed as a committee of one <br />to contact the Board of Supervisors relative to est <br />ment of such set-back lines as may be required but that <br />they be not less than the minimum established thereon by <br />the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Communication from Chester S. Gross stating that upon <br />return f~om armed forces he wqs placed on salary of <br />patrolman and requesting detective's pay retroactive as <br />of September l, 1946, was read. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried <br />request was referred to Civil Service Commission to <br /> <br />report back to Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
