C.E.Paul- Victory House Cormnunication from Veterans' Welfare Board together with petition for cancellation of certain taxes now appearing on the tax records as a lien against property owned by the Veterans' Welfare Board in Santa Ana was read and on motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, matter was referred to the City Attorney to report back at the next meeting. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, applications of John J. Kirby, Charles Hans Padruth, William R. Lunsford and William C. Ray to drive ta×icabs, were granted and Clerk authorized to issue licenses. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, the resignation of 0.A.Jacobs, as City Attorne effective April 1st, 1946, was accepted with regrets. The Chairman of the Board suggested that applications of John K. Colwell, George E. Bradley and Jack J. Rimel for position as City Attorney be referred to the Council as a whole to be considered at a meeting to be called by the Chairman. Request of Home 0il Co. for per~tission to set two light standards inside set back line at northeast corner of Main and Hobart St. and ~t 1401 No. Main St., was read and on motion of Trustee Rash, seconded by Cheney and carried, request was referred to City Engineer to report back at the next meeting. The application of Lafayette Madison Guyon for a permit to operate a patrol service in Santa Ana under the name~ of the Orange County Merchants Patrol and Orange Co~unty Private Detective Agency was read and on Eot~on of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney an~ carried, matter was referred to the City Attorney for investigation and to report back at next meeting. The request of Mrs. C.?.Paul for use of Victory House during the month of April, to be placed at the northeast corner of Fourth and Sycamore Sts., for the purpose of promoting the Congressional Program on the Control of Cance~ was re~d and on motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, request was granted.
