No. 62 was read A protest/si£~ned by eleven property owuers in the 1900 and 2000 blocks South Main St. against the granting of permission to establish a used car lot at 2002 South Main St. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, matter was referred to the Attorney and Engine~ for checking and report back at the next meeting. Communication from Secretary of the Forestry Board recommending to the City Council thatMain Stre~t from First Street to the south City Limits be designated for Cocos Plumosas, was read. Six additional petitions were presented by merchants and property owners om South Main Street requesting thai all trees and shrubbery in parking areas on South ~ain St. be removed or eliminated. Messrs. Gene Kahen, 0rson Hunter, Ed Zirinsk~j, ?.A.Smitk an~ Edgar ~Lentz appeared before the Board voicing their opinions and insisting that all trees be removed and protesting against the planting of Cocos Plumosas, as recommended by the Forestry Board. Trustee Haan made a motion that all trees be removed from parking areas on South Main St. Motion was lost for lack of a second. Trustee Deckert made a motion that if any merchant on South Main St. desired to have trees removed from in front of his property that such trees be removed but for the present trees that are in front of residential property on South Msin St. for lack of a second. On motion of Trustee Haan, remain. Motion was lost seconded by Cheney and carried, all trees were ordered removed from parking areas on South Main Street. On recommendation of the Planning Commission and on motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Cheney and carried, the Clerk was instructed to publish a notice of hearing in a newspaper of Meneral circulation, ten days prior tc next meeting of the Council on April 1st, 1946, relative to change of zone from R-1 to R-~ all property now within the following described exterior boundary line, to-wit: All of Lot Four (4) of Block "B" of Goepper's Addition to the City of Santa Ana, in accordance with application of A.A.Crawford.
