Parker <br />(leave) <br /> <br /> Cf Trustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the requests were <br /> referred to the Administrator and Chief of Police for recommendation <br /> <br /> and report at the next meeting. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communication was read from Civic Beautification Committee requesting <br /> that the week of April 6th to 12th inclusive be-proclaimedOi~ic Beau- <br /> tification Week, and on motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome <br /> and carried, the communication was received and filed. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Second Guesser's Club complimenting <br /> the City on the complete remodeling of the Visitorls Dressing House at <br /> the Municipal Bowl, and on motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerom~ <br /> <br /> and carried, the communication was received and filed. <br /> # <br /> Communication was read from the 32nd District Agricultural Association <br /> expressing appreciation of the various committees and management of <br /> the Orange County Fair for the City's participation in the 1951 Fair, <br /> and on motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> <br /> communication was received and filed. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communications were read from the Conference on State Defense and The <br /> United States Conference of Mayors requesting that local governments <br /> oppose the Federal tax on municipal bond issues now exempt. On motior <br /> of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and ca, tied, the Administrator <br /> was instructed to write the California Senators stating that the City <br /> of Santa Ana is opposed to the suggested additional tax on municipal <br /> <br /> bonds. <br /> # <br /> On recommendation of the Business Men~s Association and on motion of <br /> <br /> Trustee Hunter, seconded by McBride and carried, the request of Armandc <br /> Calles, on behalf of a group of blind boys, for permission to sell <br /> <br /> merchandise made by the blind, was denied. <br /> # <br /> Communication was read from the Secretary of the Planning. Commission <br /> recommending that the Council authorize improvement of city-owned.lot <br /> at the southeast corner of Anahurst Place and Broadway, and on motion <br /> of Trustee Hunter, seconded by McBride and carried, the communication <br /> was received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was 'approved and variance <br /> granted to Clark Dye to permit waiving of rear yard requirement for <br /> purpose of ccnst~acting a building on the rear of the lot which is <br /> known as Lot 8 in Block 8 of Palmer~s Addition and is located between <br /> <br /> 210 and 216 South Main Street. <br /> # <br /> <br />On motion of T~ustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />.recommendation of the Planning Commission was accepted and Tentative <br />Map of Tract No. 1541 approved subject to renumbering the lots or <br />adding Block numbers, and subject to showing easements five feet in <br />width on each side of rear lot lines. <br /> <br /> The recommendation of the Civil Service Board was read that sick leave <br /> be granted George Parker for the purpose of taking his father's body <br /> to Odessa, Mo. for burial, and on motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded <br /> <br /> <br />
