Hunter, <br />Chandler. <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council having received copies of <br />the Minutes of November 5, 1951, re,ding of the Minutes <br />was dispensed with and approved on motion of Trustee Jerome, <br />seconded by Hunter and carried. <br /> # <br /> <br />In R~ <br />Variance <br />Lillian Gowdy <br /> (Arden Farms Co.) <br /> <br />This being the continued hearing on variance application of Lillian <br />Gowdy to permit the Arden Farms Company to construct a distributing <br />plant at the northwest corner .of Fruit and Grand Avenues, Charles G. <br /> <br />Swarmer, Attorney, on behalf of the Company stated reasons for grant- <br /> <br />ing the variance. Attorney James Walker, representing protestants, <br /> <br />presented additional petitions containing fourteen signatures opposing <br /> <br />the variance and orally objected on behalf of property owners. <br /> <br />Eleven residents and property owners in the immediate area stated thei: <br /> <br />reasons for opposing the variance. Written protests were introduced <br /> <br />signed by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moyer. M~. Perkins, Manager, answered <br /> <br />questions reference operation of the plant, and Morris Leicken, an <br /> <br />employee, spoke in favor of the variance. On motion of Trustee Hunte: <br /> <br />seconded by Dahl and carried, the recommendation of the Planning <br /> <br />Commission was approved and variance application of Lillian Gowdy was <br /> <br />denied. <br /> <br />In Re <br />Map Tract <br />No. 1508~ <br /> <br />Roll Call Trustees Ayes <br /> <br /> Trustees Noes <br /> Trustees Absent <br />,, <br />On motion of Trustee McBride, <br /> <br />Orson H. Chandler. <br />William Jerome, J.L.McB~ide. <br />None <br /> <br />seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was accepted and Tentative <br /> <br />Map of Tract No. 1508 was approved subject to the condition that <br /> <br />Pacific Avenue from Borchard Avenue to the north boundary, as shown, <br /> <br />be eliminated and that Spruce Street be extended from Borchard Avenue <br /> <br />to the north line of the Tract and that the west line of the extension <br /> <br />be 120 feet east of the west line of the tract. On motion of Trustee <br /> <br />McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, Map Tract No. 1508 covering <br /> <br />improvements of Borchard Avenue, Spruce Street, Pacific Avenue, Poplar <br /> <br />Street, Hesperian Street, Bristol Street and Edinger Street, was <br /> <br /> <br />
