<br /> The maximum length of broken stone passing a screen or ring shall not be greater
<br />than fifty (50) per cent in excess of the dimension specified.
<br />
<br /> Not more than five (5) per cent, by weight, or flat, thin, or elongated pieces or particles
<br />of stone, will be permitted in any one class or size of broken stone. Pieces or particles of
<br />stone whose greatest thickness does not equal or exceed twenty (20) per cent of its greatest
<br />length, will be considered as flat, thin, or elongated.
<br />
<br /> CLASSIFICATION
<br />
<br />No. 1 Stone shall pass a screen having 2~-in. round openings and retained
<br /> on a screen having l%-in, round openings.
<br />No. 2 Stone shall pass a screen having l~-in, round openings and retained
<br /> on a screen having ~-in. round openings.
<br />
<br />No. $ Stone shall pass a screen having ~-in. round openings and retained
<br /> on a screen having ~-in. round openings.
<br />
<br />lqo. 4 Stone shall pass a screen having ~-in. round openings and not more
<br /> than ten (I0) per cent, by weight, shall pass a screen having ~-in.
<br /> round openings.
<br />
<br /> FOR CONCRETE
<br />
<br /> CLASS "A" MIXTURE shall consist of sizes ranging from a minimum of not more
<br />than five ($) per cent, by weight, passing a screen having one-fourth (~) inch round
<br />openings, to a maximum size that will pass a screen having two and one-half (2~) inch
<br />round openings and shall contain sizes of which not more than ninety (90) per cent, by
<br />weight, will pass a screen having one and one-half (E4) inch round openings, and not less
<br />than twenty-five (25) per cent or more than fifty-five (55) per cent, by weight, will pass a
<br />screen having three-fourths (~) inch round openings.
<br />
<br /> CLASS "B" MIXTURE shall consist of sizes ranging from a minimum of not more
<br />than five (5) per cent, by weight, passing a screen having one.fourth (~) inch round
<br />openings, to a maximum size that will pass a screen having two (2) inch round openings,
<br />and shall contain sizes of which not more than ninety-five (95) per cent, by weight, will
<br />pass a screen having one and one-half (1~) inch round openings and not less than twenty-
<br />five (25) per cent or more than sixty (50) per cent, by weight, will pass a screen having three
<br />fourths (~) inch round openings.
<br />
<br /> CLASS "C" MIXTURE shall consist of sizes ranglng from a minimum of not more
<br />than five (5) per cent, by weight, passing a screen having one-fourth (~) inch round open-
<br />ings to a maximum size that wfil pass a screen having one and one-half (1~) inch round
<br />openings, of which not less than thirty (30) per cent or more than seventy-five (75) per cent,
<br />by walgth, shall pass a screen having three-fourths (~) inch round openings.
<br />
<br /> In addition to the above classifications, crushed stone shall be comb/ned for size and
<br />proportion, as noted on the plans, or further specified for that particular class of work.
<br />
<br />Gravel.
<br />

<br /> Gravel shall consist of clean, water-worn pebbles, crushed boulders, or both, and shall
<br /> be free from organic matter, shale, disintegrated or soft stone, clay, or other deleterious
