RESOLUTION NO. 1891 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION ADOPTING PLANS AND AWAHDING CONTRACT <br /> FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A ~ATER TANK FOR THE CITY <br /> OF SANTA ANA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it appearing to the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Aha that a disaster has occured in the reserve water supply of <br />the City of Santa Aha, due to a recent wind storm which tore off the <br />covering of the water reservoir on Flower Street and that the water <br />in said reservoir is unfit for drinking purposes and that by virtue <br />thereof a case of great public calamity exists, and that public <br />interest and necessity demands the immediate expenditure of public <br />money to safeguard life, health and property in the City of Santa <br />Aha; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it satisfactorily appearing to said City Council <br />that the necessity for the immediate expenditure of such public <br />money is in the erection and construction of a steel elevated tank <br />of the capacity of one million gallons of water to be constructed up¢ <br />property of the City of Santa Aha, located adjoining the Southern <br />Pacific Railroad right-of-way on the West, between Fourteenth and <br />Fifteenth Streets in said City, which it is necessary to have con- <br />structed before the summer of 1928, in order that there may not be a <br />shortage of water for domestic purposes, or in case of fire or other <br />emergency that might cause a large consumption of water from the <br />reserve water supply, and thereby endanger the life, health or <br />property of the inhabitants of the City of Santa Ans. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the public interest <br />and necessity demands the immediate expenditure of public money to <br />safeguard the life, health and property of the inhabitants of the <br />City of Santa Ana, and that an emergency exists in the water supply <br />of the City of Santa Aha as hereinbefore stated, and that Llewellyn <br />Iron Works has submitted plans and specifications for the erection a~ <br />construction of a steel water tank as hereinbefore mentioned, <br />together with a bid in writing to complete the same, including the <br />~urnishing of all materials, labor and equipment according to sd d <br />plans and specifications for the sum of $59,990.00, and have agreed <br />to complete the same on or before June 10th, 1928, which said City <br />Council determines is a reasonable bid for said improvement, and tha! <br />it is for the best interest of the City of Santa Ana to enter into <br />a contract for said improvement for the consideration set forth in <br />said bid and as hereinbefore stated. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTttER RESOLVED: That the said plans and <br />specifications as set forth in said bid on file shall be, and they ax <br />hereby adopted, as the plans and specifications for the construction <br />of said work and improvement. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Mayor of the City of <br />Santa Aha, and the City Clerk of said City, respectively, execute a <br />contract with said bidder herein named on behalf of the City of Sant~ <br /> <br />,n <br /> <br />~d <br /> <br /> <br />
