<br /> For each additional ~10,000 or fraction thereof of the
<br /> cost of such work above $10,000 and not exceeding $30,000,$1.00,
<br /> and for each additional ~1000.00 or fraction thereof of the
<br /> cost of such work above $50,000, and not exceeding $1C0,OO0
<br /> 50 cts., and for each additional $1OO0 or fraction thereof Of
<br /> the cost of such work above $100,000, 40 cts.
<br /> The building inspector shall keep in proper books an accurate
<br /> record of all fees received under this Ordinance, giving the
<br /> name of the party paying the same, the date, and the amount,
<br /> and such books shall be kept open for public inspection.
<br /> If any work shall have been done on any building or part of
<br /> a building, for which a permit is required by this Ordinance,
<br /> before such permit shall have been taken out, and such permit
<br /> shall be subsequently issued, double the fees herein provided,
<br /> shall be collected.
<br /> Section 8. If the work authorized by said permit is not
<br /> begun within 60 days from the date hereof, said permit shall be
<br /> thereafter void, and before such work can be commenced, a new
<br /> permit shall be taken out and the same fees as herein fixed for
<br /> the original permit shall be paid.
<br /> Section 9. It shall be unlawful for any person to conceal
<br /> any wiring or plumbing until the same hasbeen approved and
<br /> passed by the City Electrician and Plumbing Inapedtor.
<br /> Section 10. When any existing building or part thereof is
<br /> to be demolished, a statement shall be filed with the Building
<br /> Inspector stating the work to be done, and if this is approved
<br /> a permit shall be issued and a fee of $1.00 charged. The
<br /> building inspector is hereby given authority to compel the person
<br /> or persons doing the wrecking to do such work in a safe manner,
<br /> and the same regulations shall apply to the use of streets
<br /> required in the case of new buildings. Any dry materials such
<br /> as plaster must be wet down to lay dust.
<br /> Section ll. It shall be unlawful to enlarge, alter,
<br /> raise any building or move upon any lot within the fire limits
<br /> any structure or building or part thereof, which does not meet
<br /> with the requirements laid down for new buildings except that
<br /> on l~etiti~n~of all of the property owners in the block, the
<br /> Board of Trustees may modify this description. It shall be
<br /> unlawful to erect any building or part thereof in the fire limits,
<br /> which does not meet the requirements of either class 'A"
<br /> or "C" construction.
<br /> When any frame or other building within the fire limits
<br /> is damaged by fire, decay, or other cause, in the estimation of
<br /> the building inspector to the extent of 40 per cent of its actual
<br /> value, it shall be unlawful to repair or construct such building.
<br /> Section 12. It shall be unlawful to erect any building
<br /> Over one hundred and fifty (150) feet in height, measured from
<br /> the sidewalk level, to the top of the cornice, and said cornice
<br /> shall in no case project more than 6 feet and 6 inches from the
<br /> building line where said building line is per pendlculaZ from
<br /> the street line.
<br /> Parts of buildings may exceed the height of one hundred
<br /> and fifty (150) feet providing all parts fall below a line drawn
<br /> upward at an angle of 45 degrees from the extreme outer edge
<br /> of the above named projection cornice.
<br /> Class "A" buildings shall be what is ordinarily building
<br />as fire-proof buildings. The walls must be built of fireproof
<br />material consisting of masonry walls or of filler walls carried
<br />on a skeleton construction of iron or steel beams which must
<br />be properly fireproofed or of re-inforced concrete. Trim, window
<br />frames, finish floors, sash and doors and all of what is ordinarily
<br />known as the interior trim of the building, may be of hardwood in
<br />a class "A" building below the level of the 9th floor, but above
<br />this level all trim and floor surfaces, dR~1 ~ndow frames and
<br />sash must be of metal or wood ~overed witS~61~er incombustible
<br />material. All partitions extending to the ceiling must be of
<br />fireproof material, and all floors above the 9th floor must be
<br />provided with modern and approved fire protection. All build-
<br />ings over 6 stories or 80 feet in height must be class "A".
<br /> Class "B" buildings shell be what is known as mill or
<br />slow burning construction, the outside walls constructed of fire-
<br />proof material. No Class "B" building shall exceed 6 stories or
<br />~0 feet in height.
<br /> Class "C" buildings shall be buildings whose outside walls
<br />are of masonry or fireproof material. The floors and roof carried
<br />on wooden joists supported on the walls or on wooden, iron or steel
<br />beams and colu~ms or any combinations of these, and no partiticn
<br />shall be used fOXhOle support of floor Joists in any class
<br />buildings, except ih two story buildings and in three story build-
<br />ings, the upper two. stories may be carried on stud partitions.
<br />No buildings of class "C" construction shall exceed in height 60
<br />
