ORDINANCE NO. 6~. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance Granting to Pacific Electric Railway Company <br />a corporation, and its assigns, a franchise and right to construct <br />maintain and operate for the term of fifty (50) years an electri~ <br />railroad across certain streets and alleys in the City of Santa <br />Ana, County of Orange, and State of California, known as the <br />"Irvine Extension." <br /> <br />The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aha do ordain <br /> <br />as follows:- <br /> <br />Section 1. That the right, privilege and franchise is <br /> <br />hereby granted to Pacific Electric Railway Company, a corporation <br /> <br />and its successors and assigns, to construct and to maintain and <br /> <br />operate for a period of fifty (50) years from and after the date <br /> <br />of the granting of this franchise, an electric railroad in, over <br /> <br />and across certain streets and alleys along the following described <br /> <br />center line: <br /> <br /> Beginning at a point in the center line of Second <br />Street as shown on a map of the W.Z. Cook's Addition to the City <br />of Santa Ana, and recorded in BoOk i on page 34, Niscellaneous Naps <br />Records of Orange County, distant 225.0 feet westerlN from the <br />surveyed center line of Evergreen Street; thence southeasterly <br />at an angle of ll degrees and 25 minutes off the aforedescrtbed <br />center line of Second Street a distance of 29.55 feet to the begin- <br />ning of a curve to the right having a radius of 235 feet; thence <br />easterly and southerly on the arc of said curve a distance of 297.Y0 <br />feet to the end of said curve; thence along a straight line tangent <br />to said curve at the end of said curve a distance of $3.60 feet <br />to the beginning of a curve to the left having a radius of 235 f~et; <br />thence on the arc of said curve to the left a distance of 254.29 <br />feet to the end of said curve; thence along a straight line tangent <br />to last mentioned curve at the end of said curve a distance of 88.20 <br />feet to the beginning of a curve to the right having a radius of <br />300 feet; thence along the arc of said curve a distance of 193.64 <br />feet to the end of said curve; thence along a straight line tangent <br />to last described curve at the end of said curve a distance of <br />550.35 feet to the beginning of a ? degree and 40 minute curve to <br />the right; thence along said 7 degree and 40 minute curve a dislance <br />of 413.Og feet to the end of said curve; said last mentioned point <br />being l0 feet westerly from thewesterly right of way line of the <br />Southern Pacific Railroad, measured at right angles thereto; thence <br />southerly parallel with the said westerly right of way line of <br />the Southern Pacific Railroad a distance of 799.31 feet to the <br />beginning of a curve to the left having a radius of 235 feet; thence <br />along the arc of said curve a distance of 69.73 feet to the end of <br />said curve; thence along a straight line tangent to the last <br />mentioned curve at the end of said curve a distance of 65.0 feet to <br />the beginning of a curve to the left having a radius of 235.0 feet; <br />thence along the arc of said curve a distance of 302.90 feet to the <br />end of said curve; said point lying 20 feet. northerly of, measured <br />at right angles to, the aoutherly line of lands conveyed to S.C. <br />Nartin and recorded in Book 166 on Page 3?2 of Deeds, Records of <br />Orange County; thence easterly parallel with the said southerly~ne <br />o~ lands conveyed to E.C. Nartin a distance of 66g.82 feet to the <br />beginning of a curve to the left having a radius of 257.94 feet; <br />thence along the arc of said curve a distance of 123.33 feet to ~he <br />end of said curve; thence along a straight line tangent to last <br />mentioned curve; at the end of said curve a distance of 12g.34 feet <br />to the beginning of a curve to the right having a radius of 2g?.94 <br />feet; thence along the arc of said curve a distance of 124.05 fast <br />to the end of said curve; said last mentioned point lying southerly <br />of and distant 20 feet from measured at right angles to, the southerly <br />line of Warren Street, as shown on a map of the Smith & Nale~ Sub- <br />division of the NcClay Tract, recorded in Book 22, on page 96, Nds- <br />oell aneous Records of I, os Angeles County; thence easterly parallel <br />with the said southerl~ line of Warren Street a distance of 1590.97 <br />feet to the easterly line of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />all as shown on blueprint attached to the application of Pacific <br /> <br />Electric Railway Company filed with the City Clerk of said City <br /> <br />on the fourth day of September, 191~, and marked ~.W.A. -635. <br /> <br />Section 2. The railroad operated and constructed under <br /> <br />this franchise, shall be used for the transportation of passengers <br /> <br />and freight, provided, that no carload lots of freight, or empty <br /> <br /> <br />
