been obtained from the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aha, <br />California. <br /> <br /> Section 6. Regulating the construction ani use of buildings <br />occupied as garages, clothes cleaning establishments ~nd the storsge <br />and use of g~oline in connection therewith. <br /> <br /> Definitions and miscellaneous provisions: <br /> <br /> The following terms shall have the following meaning in this <br />Ordinance to-wit: <br /> <br /> (~)"Chief of fire department" means chief of the fi~e department <br />of the City of Santa Rna, California, or any one of his assistants. <br /> <br /> (b) "Approved" means approved by the chief of the fire department. <br /> <br /> (c) "Gasoline" means any product or any hydro-carbon liquid that <br />will flash or emit an inflammable vapor below the temperature of one <br />hundred and ten (110) degrees Fahrenheit. <br /> <br /> (d) An "automobile" is any motor vehicle using gasoline or <br />distillate for generating motive power. <br /> <br /> (e) A "public garage" is a building where motor vehicles are <br />kept or stored or where a cherge is made for use or storage of automobiles. <br /> <br /> (f) A "private garage, is a building where an automobile or <br />automobiles ~re kept for private use only and not rented nor hired out <br />to the public nor any charge made for keeping the s~ne. <br /> <br /> (g) "Private Gareges" where more than two automobiles are kept <br />or stored shall be subject to the same requirements as specified for <br />public garages. <br /> <br /> (h) A "Gara~e" shall include both a public ~nd private garage. <br /> <br /> (i) "Clothes cleaning establishment~" shall mean any building <br />or premises where more than one (1) quart of gasoline is kept to be used <br />for cleaning or renovating any clothing or articles of wearing apparal <br />or fabric of any kind including dye works and tailor shops. <br /> <br /> (k) "Standard test" means will not flash or emit an inflammable <br />vapor below one hundred ~nd ten (llO) degrees Fahrenheit, the fire chief <br />shall determine the flashing point. - <br /> <br /> (i) The provisions of this Ordinance shall ap~ly to buildings <br />now existing as well as any hereafter constructed. <br /> <br /> Section ~. Garages, filling stations, clothes cleaning establish- <br />merits. <br /> (a) Permits. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpo- <br /> <br />ration hereafter to conduct or maintain any garage, filling station, or <br />clothes cleaning establishment w~thout first obtaining a permit therefor <br /> <br />from the Board of Trustees of the <br />application for a permit shall be <br />of the permittee and the loc~tion <br /> <br />City of Santa Aha, California. The <br />in writing and shall specify the name <br />of the premises to be u~ed a~ an <br /> <br />automobile garage, filling station, or clothes cleaning establishment, <br />~:d the amount of gasoline that may be stored in said premises. <br /> <br /> No gasoline shall be kept or stored in or about any garage, <br />filling station or clothes cleaning establishment, except as authorized <br />~ such permit and provided for in this Ordinance. <br /> <br /> (b) Protection. 1. There shall be in every public garage and <br />clothes cleaning establishment one chemical fire extiinguisherm of not <br />less than three gallons each where the floo~ space is less than One <br />thouse, nd square feet, and one additional chemical flre extinguisher for <br /> <br />each additlonal 1000 square <br /> <br /> $. Every public <br />at least two hundred pounds <br /> <br />feet of floor space or fraction thereof. <br />garage shall also have on hand at all times <br />of clean sand w~th one hand scoop ~n each <br /> <br />barrel or box of sand to be pla~ed in different parts of main floor and <br />repair shop, if any, such sand when saturated with ell or gasoline shall <br />be removed from the building. The use of sawdust for absorbing oils in <br />any garage shall be prohibited,~except for sweeping only). <br /> <br /> <br />
