38! <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 6V8. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA Gt~.NTING TO PACIFIC <br />ELECTRIC LAND COMPANY, A CORPORATION, A FP~NCHISE TO OPERATE <br />AUTOMOBILE BUSSES ON, ALONG AND OVER PUBLIC STREETS OF TPLE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS AND (DNDITIONS <br />GOVERNING THE USE OF SUCH FRANC~HISE, REGULATING THE PA~ENT <br />OF A PERCENTAGE OF THE GROSS N~NNUAL RECEIPTS ARISING THERE; <br />FROM, AND PROVIDING FOR THE FORFEITURE THEREOF. <br /> <br /> Whereas, an application ~r a franchise to operate auto- <br />mobile busses on, along, and over the publi~ streets of the City <br />of Snnta Ana was duly filed with the Board of Trustees, as the <br />legislative body of said City; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, said Board of Trustees advertised the fact of <br />said application, together with a statement that it proposed to <br />grant the same and duly noticed said franchise for sale; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, Pacific Electric Land Company, a corporation, <br />at the time and place in said notice specified, made the highest <br />cash bid therefor, and the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa <br />Ana sold and awarded the franchise to Pacific Electric Land Com- <br />pany; and <br /> <br /> Whereas, Pacific Electric Land Company has complied with <br />the notice of sale, and, on the 24th day of February, 1922, and <br />within five (5) days after the franchise was awarded to it, filed <br /> <br />its bond running to the City of Santa Ana <br />approved by the Board of Trustees, in the <br />conditioned as provided by law; <br /> <br /> of Trustees <br /> <br /> The Board <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. <br /> <br />with a corporate surety, <br />penal sum of $5000.00, <br /> <br />of the City of Santa Ana do ordain <br /> <br /> A franchise is hereby granted to <br /> <br /> Pacific Electric Land ComDany, a corporation, to operate automobile <br /> busses on, along, and over public streets of the city of Santa Aha, <br /> for the transportation of persons for compensation, during the <br /> period of ten (lC) years from and after the date of the passage <br /> of this Ordinance. <br /> <br /> This franchise is granted and shall be used, exercised, <br /> and enjoyed strictly in accordance with the provisions of this <br /> Ordinance, the ordinances, orders, rules, and regulations <br /> hereafter passed, made, and adopted by the Board of Trustees of <br /> the City of Santa Ana concerning the same. <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the transportation of persons by <br /> <br />automobile busses under this franchise, the maximum fare to be <br /> charged, demanded, or received, of or from any person, for any <br /> one trip or carriage, the actual length of which'does not exceed <br /> one and one-half (1½) miles, shall be five (5) cents, and not <br /> to exceed five (5) cents for each additional one and one-half <br /> miles or fraction thereof. <br /> <br /> The City of Santa Ana reserves the right'and shall have <br /> full power~and authority to hereafter divide the City into zones, <br /> <br /> <br />
