V?4. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance amending Section 2 of Ordinance No. 6V8 <br />granting to Pacific Elect~t~ Land CoSpany, a corporation, a <br />franchise to operate automobile busses on, along, and over pub- <br />lic streets of the City of Santa Ana, prescribing regulations <br />and conditions governing the use of such franchise, regulating <br />the payment of a percentage of the gross annual receipts aris- <br />ing therefrom, and providing for the forfeiture thereof. <br /> <br /> 9~HER.~AS, application has been made by Pacific Elec- <br />tric Railway Company, a corporation, assignee of franchise <br /> <br />granted to Pacific Electric Land Company~ a <br />Ordinance No. 6~8 ~ly passed April 3, 19~2, <br /> <br />Trustees <br /> <br />corporation, under <br />by the Boar8 of <br /> <br /> of the City of Santa Aha entitled, <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> GRANTING TO PACIFIC ELECTRIC LAND COMPANY, <br /> A CORPORATION, A FRANCHISE TO OPERATE <br /> AUTOMOBILE BUSSES ON, ALONG, AND OVER <br /> PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF ~ANTA ~[A, <br /> PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS AND CONDITIONS <br /> GOVERNING THE USE OF SUCH FRANCHISE, <br /> REGULATING THE PAYMENT OF A PERCENTAGE OF <br /> THE GROSS ANNUAL RECEIPTS ARISING THERE~RON <br /> AND PROVI~ NO FOR THE FORFEITURE THEREOF." <br /> <br /> by which application Pacific Electric Railway Company re~ests <br /> that Section 2 of said Ordinance No. 678 be amenSed to read <br /> as hereinafter set forth, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been made to appear that the fare <br /> provided in said Ordinance No. 878 of five cents for trip or <br /> carriage, the actual ]ength of which does not exceed one and <br /> one-half miles and not to exceed five cents for each additional <br /> one and one-half miles, or fraction thereof, has ~ot produced <br /> sufficient revenue at any time to said Pacific Electric Rail- <br /> way Company, or its assignor, Pacific Electric Land Company, <br /> to pay the cost of operation of the busses operated under said <br /> franchise. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREF~E, the Board of Trustees of the City of <br />Santa Ana ordains as follows:- <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 2 of said Ordinance #6V8 is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "In the transportation of persons by automobile <br /> busses under this franchise, the maxin~m fare to be <br /> charged, demanded,, or received, of or from any person, <br /> for any one trip or carriage, the actual length of <br /> which does not exceed one and one-half (1~) miles, <br /> shall be seven (V) cents, and not to exceed seven (?) <br /> cents fe~ each aSditlonal one and one-half miles or <br /> <br /> <br />
