<br /> of open ground for a t.~ee of six (6) inches in diameter, and for every three (3)
<br />inches of i~c~ease of such .diameter, there must be an t~crease of at least one (1)
<br />square foot of open ground.
<br />
<br /> Section 6. Every person, firm, association, or corporati~, having any wire
<br />charged with electricity running through a public highway in said City, shall securely
<br />fasten such wire so that it shall not come in contact with any tree or plant therein;
<br />and no person, firm, association or corporation shall, without the written permit of
<br />the City For'L. ster, attach any electric wire, insulator or any device for the holding
<br />of any electric wire, or f~r bracing the poles which carry the same, to any tree growin
<br />or planted upon any public highway of or in the said City of Santa Aha.
<br />
<br /> Section V. In the erection or repair of a building or structure, the owner
<br />thereof shall place such guards around all nearby trees on the public highways as shall
<br />effectually prevent injury to them.
<br />
<br /> Section 8. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, association or
<br />corporation, to place, or allow to be placed in or upon any parking strip, parking area,
<br />or public plot, any salt, oil, herbicide, or any other material deleterious to the
<br />growth of plants, or in close proximity to such public square, parking area, or public
<br />plot that such deleterious material will permeate the soil thereof.
<br />
<br /> Section 9. T~at any person, firm, association or corporation violating any
<br />of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon convict-
<br />ion thereof shall be punished by a fine of not exceeding Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00
<br />or by imprisonment in the County Jail of the County of Orange, not exceeding thirty (30
<br />days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
<br />
<br /> Section 10. That all provisions of ordinances that conflict with any portion
<br />of this ordinance are hereby repealed. In case of litigation regarding the validity
<br />of this ordinance, any section or portion of this ~dinance found to be invalid
<br />shall not invalidate the balance of this ordinance.
<br />
<br /> Section ll. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ~ dinance and
<br />cause the ~,me to be published three (3) times in the Santa Ana Daily Evening Register,
<br />a daily newspaper printed and published and circulated in the City of Santa Aha, and
<br />said Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of its final passage.

<br /> The foregoing ordinance is approved this 29th day of October, 1928.
