0RDINM~CE N0. 909 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF'SANTA ANA PROHIBITING <br /> THE ERECTION OR MAINTENANCE OF SIGNS UPON SANTA <br /> ANA BOULEVARD, FROM CHAP~N AVENUE TO MAIN STR~T <br /> AND FLO%%~R STREET BETV~EN SANTA ANA BOULEVARDAND <br /> SEVENTEENTH STREET, AND Ftt0VIDING A PENALTY FOR <br /> THE VIOLAT~0N THEREOF, <br /> <br /> The City'Council of the City ~f Santa Aha do ordain as follows: <br /> <br /> E~¢tion 1. That it shall be uhlawful for any person~ firm or corporatio <br />to erect or maintain any advertising sky sign, electric sign or any other sign or <br />device for advertising purposes, upon or along property adjoining Santa Ana <br />Boulevard from Chapman Avenue to Main Street, or Flower Street from Santa Ana <br />Boulevard to.Seventeenth Street. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That any person violating any of the provisions of this <br />ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof <br />shall be subject to a fine of not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or <br />by imprisonment in the County Jail of the County of Orange for a term not 'exceed- <br />ing sixty (80} days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this <br />ordinance and cause the same to be published three (3) times in the Santa Ana <br />Daily Evening Register, a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in <br />the City of Santa Ans. <br /> <br /> Section ~. That this is an emergency ordinance for the immediate <br />preservation of the public peace, health or safety, in this, that certain persons <br />threaten to erect or maintain certain signs upon and along property adjoining <br />the above mentioned streets and unless this ordinance shall take effect <br />immediately upon its final passage and adoption there is danger of the beauty <br />of said streets being impaired by the erection of large and unsightly advertising <br />signs along said streets prior to the time within which this ordinance would take <br />effect, and for that reason this ordinance shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its final passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> The foregoing ordinance is signed and approved by me this 13th day of <br /> <br />January, 1930, <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> F.
