"That .there shall be at least one opening <br />through the exterior foundation walls not <br />less th~n 16 inches by ~4 inches with <br />movable door or screened vent. If a screened <br />vent is constrUcted, such opening may be <br />computed as a part of the required foundation <br />space". <br /> <br />(c) That Section ~05 of said Code is hereby amended in the following <br /> <br />particulars; that there is hereby added at the end of Subdivision numbered "c" of <br /> <br />said Section ~05, the following: <br /> <br />"That all wood frame buildings to be plastered <br />or stuccoed on the exterior, shall be sheathed <br /> with solid wood sheathing not less <br /> than 3/41 <br /> inches in thickness." <br /> <br />(d) That Section ~524 is hereby s~nended by the addition at the end of <br /> <br />Subdivision ?g")of Section ~524 smd as a part of said Subdivision ~g~ the followin <br /> <br />"Provided however, that no w~ste or vent pipes <br />for a sink or sinks shall be installed in any <br />stud wall or partition which is not constructed <br />with at least two inch by six inch (9" x 6") <br />studs or the equivalent thereof." <br /> <br />(e) That the fifth paragraph of Section 3105 is hereby amended so as <br /> <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Minimum clearance between bottom of floor <br /> Joists and the ground beneath shall be twenty- <br /> four inches (24"). The ground underneath floor <br /> Joists shall be leveled or smoothed off so as <br /> to maintain a reasonably even surface under the <br /> entire area covered by the floor Joists." <br /> <br />(f) That Section 3104 is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof <br /> <br />the following: <br /> <br />"Notwithstanding the provisions in the foregoing <br />'Table No. l, Allowable Spans for Floor Joists', <br />all provisions for spacing of Joists, center to <br />center in excess of 16 inches are hereby elimin- <br />ated, and 16 inches is hereby declared to be the <br />maximum allowable spacing of floor joists." <br /> <br />That Section 3V01 of said Code is hereby amended by adding thereto <br /> <br />the following: <br /> <br />"The foundations.for all chimneys shall extend <br /> at least 12 inches below the natural grade line <br /> and shall be not less than 12 inches in thickness." <br /> <br /> (h) That there is hereby added to said Code a new section to be <br />numbered ~217, which shall re~d as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 2217. As an additional and alternative <br />plan for Type V buildings within the following <br />requirements the following construction shall <br />be permissible: <br /> <br />"Single wall and flat stud constructLon for one- <br />story buildings, 401 sq. ft. or more, and not <br />exceeding 1200 sq. ft. <br /> <br />"All studs shall be 2" x 4" or equivalent thereto <br />in cross-sectional a~ea, and shall not be more <br />than 13" between edges, and not more than 8' long <br />between plates, and grooved not less than 1/2" to <br />receive boards; all single wall or partition <br />boRrds shall be not less than 3/4" thick. <br /> <br />"~ere siding or other facing is applied over <br />board walls there shall be applied one layer of <br />water-proof paper not less than 14 lb. felt or <br />equal between such siding or facing on all <br />exteriorwalls as required in Sec. ~08, <br />Paragraph 'A,. <br /> <br />"All plates shall be 2" x 4" or equivalent thereto, <br />and shall be lapped or tied with metal ties at <br />least 1/4" by l" by 12" long with two nails on each <br />side of joint at all splices; all joints or inter- <br />sections shall be mitered, and butt joints are pro- <br />hibited unless tied with metal straps at least 6" <br />on each side ~ joint. <br /> <br /> <br />
