ORDINANCE NO. 1120 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PLUMBING CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, AS ADOPTED BY <br />ORDINANCE NO. 821 OF SAID CITY. <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0F SANTA ANA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That the following numbered sections of the Plumbing ~ode <br /> <br />of the City of Santa Ana, as adopted by Ordinance No. 821, entitled "AN ORDINANCE <br /> <br />PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A PLUMBING INSPECTOR, DEFINING HIS DUTIES AND <br /> <br />FIXING HIS COMPENSATION: REGULATING THE METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING PLUMBING WORK, <br /> <br />HOUSE DRAINAGE, AND GAS FITTINGS, PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION THEREOF: AND <br /> <br />PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID ORDINANCE" adopted August 22, 1927, <br /> <br />be and the same are hereby amended as hereinafter set forth: <br /> <br /> (A) That Section 27 of said Plm,mbing Code is hereby amended by the <br /> <br />addition thereto at the end of the present Section 2? and as a part of said Sectio <br /> <br />the following: <br /> <br />"The fee for renewal for each certificate of competency for <br />Journeymen plumbers shall be one (1) dollar". <br /> <br />(B) That Section 61 of said Plumbing Code is hereby amended so as to <br /> <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 61. Floors in Public Toilet Rooms. <br /> <br /> Floors of all public toilet rooms shall be constructed <br />of either: <br /> WaSerproof concrete, vitreous china or ceramic tile, <br />terrazo, marble or slate. A sanitary base of the same <br />materials as the floor shall be erected around the entire <br />toilet room at least six (6) inches in height and the Joint <br />between the floor and the base shall be ~made watertight. <br /> Wood floors and what is known as floor coverings are <br />prohibited in public toilet rooms. <br /> Toilet rooms shall be deemed to mean, any room or rooms <br />containing toilets, urinals, lavatories, etc. for use of the <br />general public." <br /> <br />(C) That Section 66 of said Plumbing Code is hereby amended so as to <br /> <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 66. House Sewers. <br /> <br /> No material shall be used in the City of Santa Aha in <br />the construction of house sewers or house drains as those <br />terms are defined in this Code, except Vitrified Clay Pipe <br />and fittings with plain end without bell, unglazed on the <br />exterior, and glazed on the interior walls with a compound <br />which is resistant to all forms of acid found in sewer lines, <br />or Cast Iron pipe or its equivalent. It shall be resistant <br />to the abrasion of sewage. It shall be non-absorbent and <br />impervious to the penetration of moisture when subjected to an <br />internal water pressure of fifteen (15) pounds for fifteen (18) <br />minutes. Collars or sleeves for connecting the pipes together <br />shall be self-centering and manufactured of the same impervious <br />material as the pipe. Jointlng compounds for assembling pipes <br />and fittings shall consist of a plastic sulphur melted to the <br />proper temperature before pouring into the Joints. Ail sewer <br />lines and laterals shall be tested as prescribed by Section 186 <br />of this Code. House sewers constructed of any material other <br />than Cast Iron shall not be installed or established under any <br />building, or at a point closer than three (5) to any building." <br /> <br /> (D) That a new section is hereby added to said Plumbing Code at the <br />end of Section 66 thereof to be known as Section 66~, and which new section shall <br /> <br />be as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />"Section 66~. Installation of Sewer Laterals and House Sewers. <br /> <br /> Any sewer lateral installed in the City of Santa Ana and <br />which is constructed of any material other than Cast Iron, shall <br />be installed so that~ no portion of it shall be situated closer <br />than eighteen (18) inches to the natural grade of the ground when <br />exposed to vehicular traffic, and not closer than twelve ~12) <br />inches when not exposed to such traffic. Any necessary fills <br />shall be tamped hard to the proper grade before the pipe is laid, <br />and the contractor having charge of the laying of such lateral <br />shall make application for inspection imediately the lateral is <br /> <br /> <br />
