installed. No lateral shall be left exposed after inspection is
<br />approved but shall be irm~ediately covered with earth."
<br />
<br />(E) That Section 103 of said Plumbing Code is hereby amended so as to read
<br />
<br />as follows:
<br />
<br />"Section 103. Washin~ Machines~ and other fixtures not connected
<br /> to water suppl~.
<br />
<br /> Washing machines which have no direct water connee.tion with
<br />the domestic water supply of the City of Santa Ana, may have their
<br />waste pipes connected into the fixture side of the trap which serves
<br />another fixture provided however, that such fixture trap is of the
<br />design commonly known as the Los Angeles pattern. The waste inlet
<br />for the washing machines into said trap shall in all cases be at
<br />least one (1) inch above the water line of the trap seal and be
<br />equipped with an inlet cover and chain."
<br />
<br />(F) That Section 120 of said Plumbing COde is hereby amended by the addition
<br />
<br />thereto at the end of the present Section 120 and as a part of said Section the
<br />
<br />following:
<br />
<br /> "No urinal vent pipe shall be less than two (2) inches in
<br />internal diameter."
<br />
<br />(G) That Section 126 of said Plumbing Code is hereby amended so as to read
<br />
<br />as follows:
<br />
<br />"Section 126. Galvanized and Cast Iron Vents.
<br />
<br /> Every ventilating pipe or stack shall be carried through the
<br />roof to the outer air, and every vent pipe shall be constructed of
<br />cast iron soil pipe with cast iron soil fittings, or malleable
<br />galvanized iron or steel screw pipe, with galvanized malleable iron,
<br />galvanized cast iron, or galvanized "Durham" recessed fittings, pro-
<br />vided however, that the building wherein such pipe shall be installed
<br />is constructed with fire walls, such vents shall be carried at least
<br />six (6) inches above the level of such fire walls, and shall pass
<br />through the roof at a distance of not less than twelve (12) inches
<br />from any fire wall. Such vents shall not terminate within eight (8)
<br />feet of any property line, window, air shaft or opening into any
<br />house or building, provided however, that such vent pipes may terminate
<br />closer than eight (8) feet but not closer than two (2) feet to any
<br />opening on the roof which is equipped with a hood, cap, Jack, or other
<br />apparatus acceptable to the plumbing department, and which is so con-
<br />structed to prevent reverse circulation of air through such openings,
<br />provided however, that a ventilating pipe or stack shall not terminate
<br />lower than the highest point of the wall against which it is erected.
<br />
<br /> All ventilating pipes and stacks shall be left ~pen and unobstructed,
<br />and be reamed to the full size capacity of the pipe.
<br />
<br />(H) That Section 154 of said Plumbing Code is hereby ~nended so as to read
<br />
<br />as follows:
<br />
<br />"Section 154. Water Softeners and Other Fixtures Connected Directl~
<br /> to Water Supply.
<br />
<br /> A plumbing per~it shall be required for the installation of all
<br />w~ter softeners, water operated~ manual, or automatic water pumps or
<br />lifts, gas operated water cooled r~frigerators, water cooled motors,
<br />compressors and air conditioning units, cooling towers, hydraulic
<br />elevator and all other similar fixtures, appliances, appurtenances or
<br />piping for the operating of which a connection with the water system
<br />of the City of Santa Aha is required or made, and a notice of inspect-
<br />ion filed in the office of the Plumbing Inspector.
<br />
<br /> No water softeners, water operated, manual or automatic pum~ or
<br />lift, gas operated water cooled refrigerator, water cooled motor,
<br />compressor, or air conditioning unit, cooling towers, hydraulic elevators
<br />or any other fixture or fixtures, appliances, appurtenances or piping
<br />(exeept toilets and bidets) for the mechanical operation of which, a
<br />connection with the water system of the City of Santa Ana is required
<br />or made, or any other similar fixture, appliance or appurtenance now
<br />in use or hereafter installed shall have any outlet, inlet, supply or
<br />waste pipes, or any part or parts thereof connected directly with the
<br />sewer or cesspool system, but shall when wasted i~to the sewer or
<br />cesspool system discharge its waters or waste waters over and above the
<br />highest water line of, and into an approved open plumbing fixture
<br />properly trapped, vented and supplied with water.
<br />
<br /> No system of water piping containing water supplied by or from
<br />the domestic water system of the City of Santa Ana shall have _any
<br />connection whatever with any other water supply, nor shall it
<br /> be
<br />installed or connected in such a m~nner or position as to permit the
<br />back flow or stphonage into the piping of the water supply of the City
<br />of Santa Ana, water or liquids from any source whether in containers
<br />or otherwise.
