<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REGUIA TING
<br />THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGEMENT, ALTERA~ION;
<br />REPAIR, MOVING, R~2~OVAL, DEMOLITION, CONVERSION,
<br />OCCUPANCY EQUIPMENT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA AND MAINT-
<br />ENANCE OF ALL BUILDING AND/OR STRUCTURES IN THE
<br />CITY OF SANTA AMA: PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF
<br />PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFOR: PROVIDING
<br />PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF: DECLARING AND
<br />ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONES: REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1090
<br />Ole THE CITY OF SANTA AMA AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES
<br />AND PARTS OF THE ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
<br />
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br /> SECTION 1: That a certain document, three (3) copies of which are on file
<br />in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Aha, being~ marked and designated
<br />as "Uniform Building Code, 1943 Edition, published May l, 1943, by Pacific Coast
<br />Buildirg Officials Conference", be and the same is hereby adopted as the building code
<br />of the City of Santa Ana for regulating the erection, construction, enlargement,
<br />alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use,
<br />height, area, and maintenance of all buildings and/or structures in the City of Santa
<br />Aha; providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; providing
<br />penalties for violation of such code; declaring and establishing fire zones; and each
<br />and all of the regulations, provisions, penalities, conditions, and terms of such
<br />"Uniform Building Code, 1943 Edition, pu$1ished May l, 1943, by the Pacific Coast
<br />Building Officials Conference", on file in the office of the City Clerk, are hereby
<br />re~erred to, adopted, and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this Ordinance.
<br />
<br /> Section 2: That Ordinance No. 1090 of the City of Santa Ana entitled "An
<br />Ordinance of the City of Santa Ana Adopting the Uniform Building Code, 1940 Edition,
<br />Regulating the Erection, Construction, Alteration and Demolition of Buildings and
<br />Structures in said City, and Repealing Ordinance No. 1084", and ell other Ordinances or
<br />parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith sre hereby repealed.
<br />
<br /> Section ~: That the entire incorporated area of the City of Santa Ana is
<br />hereby declared to be and is hereby established as a Fire District and said fire districl
<br />shall be known and designated as Fire Zones l, 2 and 3, and each such zone shall include
<br />such territory or portions of said City as illustrated, outlined and designated on a
<br />certain map on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Santa Aha being
<br />marked and designated as "Fire Zones of the City of Santa Ana", which is hereby adopted
<br />as the fire zoning map of the City of SantaAna for the application of the regulations
<br />included~in the "Uniform Building Code, 1943 Edition, p~lished May l, 1943, by Pacific
<br />Coast Building Officials Conference".
<br />
<br /> Section 4: That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
<br />Ordinance and cause the same to be published.
<br />
<br /> Section 5: That the portions of said Uniform Building Code so adopted are as
<br />follows:
<br />
<br /> Section 101 to Section 4903, both sections inclusive, and Section 6001 to
<br />Section 6004, both inclusive, being Chapters I to 49, both inclusive, and Chapter 60,
<br />of said Code; and also that section of the Code marked "Appendix" being Section 702 (c);
<br />Section 2204; Table No. 22-A, Minimum Foundation Requirements for Type V Buildings;
<br />Section 2301, Weights of Building Materials; Section 2312; Table No. 23-A, Horizontal
<br />Force Factors; Section 2829; Section 3809.
<br />
<br /> Section 6: That said Uniform Building COde, 1943 Edition, as adopted by this
<br />ordinance, is hereby amended in the following particulars;
<br />
<br /> ~a) That Section 203 of said Code is hereby amended by striking out therefrom
<br />the following words:
<br />
<br />"For a total valuation of $80.00 or less, no fee",
<br />
<br />and there is hereby inserted therein in lieu thereof the following:
<br />
<br /> "For a total valuation from $20.00 to $80.00, both inclusive, the fee
<br />be $1.00."
<br />

<br /> Provided, however, that a fee of $1.00 shall be charged on all installations
<br />and repairs to awnings which exceed the cost of $10.00.
<br />
<br /> A fee equal to one-half (4) the cost of the building permit shall be charged
<br />as a plan checking fee if in the opinion of the Building Inspector the plans are of
<br />such critical design that they require professional checking.
<br />
<br />That there is hereby added to Section 20~ the following:
<br />
<br /> "In addition to the foregoing fees, the applicant shall pay the following fees
<br />for plastering:
<br />
<br /> "For all plastering from twenty square ~arda (20 sq. yds.) to one hundred
<br />square yards (100 sq. yds.), both inclusive, the minimum fee shall be $1.00. For all
<br />plastering over one hundred square yards (100 sq. yds.) and up to one thousand square
<br />yards (1,O00 sq.. yds.), one cent per square yard.
<br />
<br /> "For all plastering over one thousand square yards (1,000 sq. yds.)up to
<br />three thousand square yards (3,000 sq. yds.), one-half cent per square yard.
