ORDINANCE NO. 1166 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1052 <br /> ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE EST$~LISHING WATER <br /> RATES IY THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, ETC.", ~ff <br /> AMENDING SECTION 8 OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. <br /> 1052. <br /> <br /> The Council of the City of Santa Ana does ordain as follows: <br /> <br /> Section l: That section 8 of Ordinance No. 1052 of the City of Santa <br />Ana is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Seetion 8: No fire line shall be used for any purpose other than for <br /> the extinguishment of fire. Under no circumstaneea shall any meter be installed <br /> on fire lines. All necessary maintenance and repairs on fire lines from water <br /> main to city curb cock shall be paid for by owner. Upon failure to pay s~id <br /> charges, water will be shut off until such charge is paid. <br /> <br /> Fire hydrants are provided for the sole purpose of extinguishing fire, <br /> and shall be opened and used only by the Water and Fire Departments, or such <br /> persons as may be authorized to do so by the Water Department. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to draw water through any fire <br /> hydrant, or other hydrant owned or controlled by the City of Santa Ana, without <br /> first obtaining a permit so to do from the Water Department. No such permit <br /> shall be issued to any person who has violated any of the provisions of this <br /> ordinance, or whose indebtedness to the City of Santa Aha for water used, or <br /> damage to hydrants, is dellnqx~eut. Such permit shall show the date of issuance, <br /> the number or numbers of the hydrants to be used, and the loeat~on'there~. All <br /> such permits shall expire in fifteen (15) days from date of issuance and shall not <br /> be transferred or extended. <br /> <br /> Upon granting any permit under this section, the Water Department shall <br /> require a fifty dollar (~50) deposit from the applicant, said deposit to be <br /> returned upon the return to the ~ater Department of the permit issued and any <br /> tools issued to such applicant, under such permit, and upon the payment to the <br /> Water Department for all water used under such permit. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to fail to return to the Water <br /> Department, any fire hydrant tools issued under such permit, on or before the <br /> expiration of said permit, which fire hydrant tools are the property of the City <br /> of Santa Ans. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to draw water through any fire <br /> hydrant without the use of a standard fire hydrant wrench and an auxiliary valve, <br /> such auxiliary valve to be placed on fire hydrant opening with the auxiliary valve <br /> closed before any fire hydrant valve is opened. <br /> <br /> Every person drawing water from any fire hydrant into a tank shall pay <br /> for such water used at the rate of ten cents (10~ for each 250 gallon tank or <br /> fraction thereof, and the rate of payment for larger tanks shall be multiples of <br /> the rate for 250 gallon tanks. <br /> <br /> Section 2: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of <br /> this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in three consecutive issue <br /> of the Santa Ana Register, a newspaper printed, published and circulated in the <br /> <br /> City of Santa Ana and hereby designated for that purpose.
