Application <br />Reclassify property <br />Northwest corner of <br /> ~istol & Edinger Sts. <br /> (Sunshine Homes) <br /> <br />at the next meeting. <br />. <br /> <br />This being the date set for hearing protests to reclassify from R-1 <br />to R-2 District Lots 18, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87 and 88 in Tract No. 1508 <br />which property lies north of the market property located on the north- <br />west corner of Bristol and Edinger Streets and six of the lots front <br /> <br />on Bristol Street, and no protests having been received, on motion of <br /> <br />Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the City Attorney was <br /> <br />instructed to prepare Ordinance to reclassify the property described <br /> <br />In Re <br />Gambling <br /> <br />in Planning Commission ResolUtion No. 420. <br /># <br />Reverend Alec G. Nichols, Pastor of the First Methodist Church <br /> <br />appeared before the Council and read a prepared statement protesting <br /> <br />the presence of gambling in the ~ty. The Nayor explained that the <br /> <br />City of Santa Ara is governed by laws covering cities of the Fifth <br /> <br />Class, that 'the Chief of Police is an elective office and Council has <br /> <br />no control over the department, except on a budgetary allocation. <br /> <br />Reverend Nichols furnished the Chief of Police with three addresses <br /> <br />where gambling is assertedly conducted. The Attorney was asked if <br /> <br />the City has an ord£nance which prohibits gambling and he reported <br /> <br />that such an ordinance is in effeet but that a complaint would have to <br /> <br />be filed before a warrant could be issued. Reverend Ni'chols <br /> <br />that the Chief of Police make an ~ggressive effort to control the <br /> <br />In Re <br />Resol. No. 52-22 <br />Accept easement deed <br />Demetrio Elenes etux <br /> <br />gambling and the Chief assured Reverend Nichols that an investigation <br /> <br />would be made, <br />. <br />On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, the <br />following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution Accepting Easement Deed" <br /> <br />from Demetrio and Cresoencia Elenes, conveying certain real property <br /> <br />for street purposes at the northeast corner of English and Eighth <br /> <br />Streets, was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 52-22 and <br /> <br />passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />In Re <br />Resol.
