ARTICLE IX <br /> 9.0 HOLIDAYS <br /> 9.1 Legal holidays observed by full-time permanent and probationary employees covered by <br /> this MOU are as follows: <br /> • January 1-New Year's Day. <br /> • Third (3rd) Monday in January -Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday. <br /> • Third (3rd) Monday in February- Presidents' Day. <br /> • March 31 — Cesar Chavez Day (effective the first holiday after City <br /> Council approval of this 2024-2027 MOU). <br /> • Last Monday in May- Memorial Day. <br /> • July 4 -Independence Day. <br /> • First (1st) Monday in September-Labor Day. <br /> • November 11 - Veteran's Day. <br /> • Fourth(4th)Thursday in November- Thanksgiving Day. <br /> • The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day. <br /> • December 25 - Christmas Day. <br /> • Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas falls on a <br /> Thursday, in which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be <br /> observed in lieu thereof. <br /> • One (1)Floating Holiday-Any workday selected by the employee with <br /> prior permission of the employee's supervisor. <br /> • Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees. <br /> Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br /> holiday,which falls on a Saturday, will be observed on the Friday preceding the Holiday. <br /> 9.2 Employees shall receive ninety-six(96)holiday hours each year(twelve(12)eight(8)hour <br /> holidays—which includes the floating holiday) in lieu of the holidays specified in Section <br /> 9.1. However, the floating holiday in Section 9.1 shall be donated back to the City to pay <br /> for the Association President's Leave per Section 14.3. <br /> 33 <br />
