<br /> Communication was read from Carl J. Thornton, Directorof Civil~Defens9
<br /> and Disaster, recommending that Alton B. Culver be appointed Chief,
<br /> Communications Service and that John C. Buchart, Jr. be designated as
<br /> Mr. Culverts alternate, and on motion of Trustee Jerome, ~econded by
<br /> Hunter and carried, the recommendation was approved and appointments
<br /> ratified.

<br /> Communication was road f~om Attorney George Bradley advising of pro-
<br /> posed increase in fares of the Santa Aha Bus Service as follows:
<br /> adult fare 15~, children under 12 and over 5, 10~ and student tickets,
<br /> 15 rides for $1.35 or 9~ per ride, with the exception of the South
<br /> Main Street line from any point on South Main or downtown Santa Ana
<br /> to any point on South Main or downtown Santa Aha, the adult fare shall
<br /> remain at 10~, and on motion of T~ustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and
<br />
<br /> carried, the communication was received and filed.

<br /> Communication was read from T. Gray Johnston, 1250 South Broadway,
<br /> requesting that action be taken in regard to irregular trash pick-up,
<br /> and on motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and oarried,.the
<br /> communication was referred to the Administrator for reply.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Hunter and carried, the
<br /> notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage
<br /> applications made by Eagles Lodge, $31 W. 3rd St., and Rebecca Castro,
<br /> 1211 E. lst~St., were received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Hunter and carried, the
<br />
<br />· application ef Gladys Radine Hayes, to drive taxicabs, was received
<br />and perml~ granted.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Trustee Dahl, seeonded by McBride and carried, the Mayor :
<br /> was authorized to sign escrow instructions from Antonio Holguin aka
<br /> Antonio Holgin, for the acceptance of an easement deed for street
<br /> purposes, being the extension of Orange Avenue between Dyer Road and
<br />
<br /> Delhi Road.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br /> ~ayor was authorized to sign escrow instructions from Clyde O. and
<br /> Emma Louise Mussack, for the acceptance of an easement deed for street
<br /> purposes, being the westerly half of the southerly extension of Orange
<br />
<br /> Avenue from Dyer Road approximately 466 feet north.

<br /> On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, thJ claim
<br /> of Anna A. Z. Brant, in the sum of $10,593.00, for injuries sustained
<br /> by reason of defective condition of public street, in front of ~remlses
<br /> at 116 West Fourth Street, was referred to the City Attorney and
<br />
<br /> Insurance Carrier.
<br /> .
<br />,On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, officials
<br />were authorized to execute lease agreement No. 13439 dated August l,
<br />1951, between the City and Pacific Electric Railway Company for
<br />construction of a storm drain where Hobart Street would cross the
<br />tracks if extended easterly, for the consideration of $10.00 for each
<br />
<br /> five year term hereof or fraction thereof.
