(9) <br />1. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />Routine maintenance shall include but not be limited to the following services performed on <br />all work sites listed in Exhibit II. <br />1.1. TURF CARE <br />All turf shall be mowed weekly with mulching mowers. Subject to the approval of the City of <br />Santa Ana, the contractor may reduce the mowing frequency to biweekly during periods of rain <br />or prolonged cold. All grass clippings shall be left in place with the exception of large <br />accumulations, which shall be collected and removed after each mowing. All roadways adjacent <br />to work areas shall be kept clean at all times. <br />All turf shall be cut to a height appropriate for the type of grass being mowed. Mowers shall be <br />maintained in optimum condition with sharp blades to provide a smooth, even cut without tearing <br />of the leaf blades. Turf shall only be mowed after two (2) consecutive non -watering days and/or <br />as directed by the City of Santa Ana. <br />Any and all signs found onsite or on trees shall be removed, including but not limited to political, <br />garage sale, lost and found, etc. All litter/debris shall be picked up prior to mowing. All turf and <br />hardscape areas including but not limited to the outside and inside perimeter of the City property <br />including sidewalks and streets shall be free of turf clippings, plant debris and trash at the end <br />of the scheduled mow day. <br />All turf shall be edged with blade trimmer adjacent to all improved surfaces and, where no <br />improved surface exists, turf edges shall be maintained as if the turf area abuts a shrub bed or <br />property line. Edging and detailing shall be performed weekly. Following each edging, all edging <br />debris shall be removed. <br />Turf shall be mechanically edged during the mowing of each week. The edging along sidewalks, <br />curbing and other concrete shall be performed with a blade type edger. Sidewalks and other <br />hard surfaces shall be properly cleaned after each edging including grass stains or marks made <br />as a result of the mowing process. <br />Contractor shall flag all irrigation sprinklers prior to commencement of work. All turf growing <br />adjacent to irrigation hardware, tree trunks, or any other landscape amenity shall be neatly <br />detailed by string trimmer and/or chemicals to twelve (12) inches in all directions of said objects. <br />Blade trimmers are prohibited from usage twelve (12) inches around any tree, shrub, or establish <br />plant base. If chemical detailing is performed, the Contractor shall use the string trimmer to <br />remove the treated turf within one (1) week after symptoms of phototoxicity become <br />recognizable. <br />
