Library <br />www.santa-ana.org/library <br />Item # 21 <br />o`7, City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />August 20, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Main Library Renovation Project <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Amendment to Agreement with Group 4 Architecture, Research + Planning, Inc. for the <br />Main Library Renovation Project (22-1380) (Revive Santa Ana) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Approve a first amendment to an agreement with Group 4 Architecture, Research + <br />Planning, Inc. for additional design and engineering services, increasing the <br />compensation amount by $499,383, for a total not -to -exceed amount of $2,657,948 <br />(Agreement No. A-2024-XXX). <br />GOVERNMENT CODE 484308 APPLIES: Yes <br />DISCUSSION <br />On April 19, 2022, the City entered into an Agreement with Group 4 Architecture, <br />Research + Planning Inc. for design and engineering services for the Main Library <br />Renovation Project. The project will enhance the Library's physical, digital, and <br />technological environment that will expand access and provide free innovative and <br />interactive spaces for children, teens, and their families. The scope of work includes site <br />work for surface parking, site utility improvements, entrance walkways, pedestrian <br />lighting, renovation of exterior public spaces, site furnishings, irrigation, and <br />landscaping. The Main Library building consists of 39,790 square feet and has two <br />floors and a below -grade basement. Additional improvements will include, but are not <br />limited to, hazardous material removal, demolition, repair and restoration of exterior <br />marble facade, addition of an accessible elevator, repair and revitalization of north - <br />facing windows, a full historic restoration of interior spaces, mechanical improvements, <br />plumbing improvements, electrical improvements, low -voltage, communications, and <br />electrical security. <br />The amendment includes additional compensation for the following: <br />• Additional historical restoration support services due to the complexity of the <br />exterior marble restoration and other historic building features. <br />
