Human Resources <br />www.santa-ana.org/human-resources <br />Item # 35 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />August 20, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Resolution to Effect Certain Changes to the City's Basic Classification and <br />Compensation Plan for Service Employee International Union (SEIU) Represented <br />Employees <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Resolution to Effect Certain Changes to the City's Basic Classification and <br />Compensation Plan for Service Employee International Union (SEIU) Represented <br />Employees <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Adopt a Resolution to effect certain changes to the City's basic classification and <br />compensation plan for Service Employee International Union (SEIU) Represented <br />Employees. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XXXX entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO EFFECT CERTAIN CHANGES TO THE CITY'S <br />CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />Each year, the Classification and Compensation Resolution is presented to City <br />Council to: <br />• Update job classifications to reflect current standards; <br />• Add new job classifications as requested by departments to meet their <br />operational needs; <br />• Remove job classifications that are no longer in use, not filled by employees, <br />and not budgeted; and <br />• Establish the FY 2024-25 Salary Schedule to reflect wage increases set forth in <br />the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) negotiated with the employee <br />bargaining groups. <br />Staff has met and conferred with SEIU, and discussed each of the job classification <br />changes in the proposed resolution. SEIU was provided with the changes on May 13, <br />2024, and management met and conferred with SEIU on June 4, June 11, June 25, <br />July 2, and August 5 to obtain agreement for the recommended removal of certain job <br />
