(g) Solicit to the fuflect extent practicable the cooperation of <br />school authorities and other public and private agencies concerned with <br />the recreation and park programs of the City. <br /> <br /> Section 707. APPOINTMENT POWERS OF DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br />Subject to the approval of the City Manager and subject to civil service <br />provisions of this Charter and the civil service rules and regulations <br />established thereunder, each head of a department, office, or other <br />agency shall have the power to appoint and remove such deputies, <br />assistants, subordinates, and employees as are provided for by the City <br />Council for his department, office, or other agency. <br /> <br /> ARTICLE VIII <br /> BOARD OF EDUCATION <br /> Section 800. BOARD OF EDUCATION: NUMBER, SELECTION, AND <br />TERM OF MEMBERS. The Board of Education serving as the governing <br />boards of the existing Santa Aaa School District, the Santa Aaa High <br />School District, and the Ssnta Aaa Junior College District shall consist of <br />five members elected at large by electors qualified to vote In such dis- <br />tricts' elections, as provided by law, at the times and in the manner pro- <br />vided in this Charier for a term of four years. The term of each member <br />shall begin the first Tuesday following such election and each shall <br />serve, except as otherwise provided for in this Charter, until his suc- <br />cessor is elected and qualified. <br /> <br /> Section 801. FIRST BOARD UNDER CHARTER. The members of <br />the Board of Education of the existing School Districts holding office <br />when this Charter takes effect shall continue in office until their success- <br />ors shall be elected and qualified under this Charter. <br /> <br /> The three members elected to the Board of Education at the first <br />special election to be held for the election of the members of the City <br />Council and the members of the fioard of Education under this Charter <br />as provided in Article XII, receiving the highest number of votes shall <br />hold office until the second Tuesday of April, 1957, and the two mem- <br />bers receiving the lowest number of votes shall hold office until the <br />second Tuesday of April, 1955. If, at any municipal election for mem- <br />bers of the Board of Education, there shall be no choice between candi- <br />dates by reason of two or more candidates having received an equal <br />number of votes, then the Beard of Education shall proceed lo determine <br />the election of such candidates by lot. <br /> <br /> Section 802. BOARD OF EDUCATION: QUALIFICATIONS OF <br />MEMBERS. Each member of the Board of Education shall be a qualified <br />elector of the School Districts as provided by law and shall have resided <br />in said School Districts for at least two years next preceding the date of <br />his election or appointment. If a member of the Board of Education <br />shall cease to be a qualified elector of said School Districts or shall be <br />convicted of a crime invelviqg moral turpitude, his office shall immediate <br /> <br /> <br />
