Campbell to permit the construction <br /> of a three-room apartment over an existing garage at 821 North Van <br /> <br /> Ness Avenue, known a s Lot ll of the Townsend Tract. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the <br /> recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br /> granted to Paul B. Witmer to permit a reduction in the set-back line <br /> on Lots 1 to 9 inclusive in Tract No. 1676 from 60 feet to 50 f~et, <br /> being a portion of the southwest quarter of Section 18 To~mshlp 5 <br /> South, Range 9 West, being the extension of Hickory and Halladay <br /> <br /> Streets, south of McFadden Street. <br /> # <br />On motion of T~ustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />grahted to Ralph C. and Ellen M. Anderson to permit a nursery, lath <br />house and growing yard and to conduct retail sales of plants and <br />merchandise associated with the nursery business at 1222 East 17th <br /> <br /> Street, subject to certain conditions. <br /> . <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending that <br />a set-back line of forty feet be established on each side of the <br />center line of East First Street from the Santa Fe tracks to the east <br />City limits. On motion of T~ustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and <br />carried, the City Attorney was instructed to prepare necessary <br /> <br /> Ordinance and present same at the next meeting. <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Jerome and carried, the reque~ <br />of the Salvation Army for permission to place placards on the light <br />standards in the business district during the Salvage Week Campaign <br />as of June let through June 6th, 1953, was granted provided the <br /> <br />placards are removed not later than one week after the Campaign. <br /># <br />A petition was read signed by twenty residents and property owners in <br />the 1600 and 17o0 blocks West llth Street, 300 block Pomona Street, <br />300 block Berkeley Street and in the 200 block Occidental Street, <br />requesting that a "dog leash law" be adopted. Mr. H.O.Mayward, 814 <br />Cypress Avenue and Mrs. Ann Powers, 1626 West llth Street stated their <br />reasons for favoring a dog leash law. On motion of Trustee McBride, <br />seconded by Dahl and carried, the matter was referred to the City <br />Attorney to explain to the Poundmaster the provisions of the present <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />application of Pacific Electric Railway Company, a corporation, for <br />authority to adjust and increase its interurban fares, was received <br />and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />applications of Jack Duckett, Kenneth L. Croney, Flora McInnes, <br /> <br />G. McInnes, Arthur Grimm, Ralph N. Horn and Donald Langton, to drive <br /> <br /> <br />
