• will allow staff at one central unit to adjust water usage at multiple locations in <br />the event of extreme drought, flooding or limited water periods during <br />construction or special events. <br />Implementation Methodology <br />Program implementation will be a two part process: Part I - Installation, Part II - <br />Examination. <br />First, a qualified irrigation/landscape contractor will be selected through a competitive <br />bidding process to provide installation of the Calsense system.. Project management of <br />the construction phase will be administered by the project team. <br />Second, information gathered during water audits will be used to refine our expertise <br />in two areas: 1) to monitor/measure the program's success; and 2) to operate, adjust, <br />and manipulate the system to achieve optimum water savings. <br />IV. PROJECT TEAM <br />The Project Team will consist of the Assistant Park Landscape Planner and the Water <br />Resources Manager who will be responsible for carrying out this project. <br />Assistant Park Landscape Planner duties: <br />• acquisition of inter/intea departmental review and approvals. <br />• advertisement for bids for general contractor. <br />• construction administration. <br />Water Resources Manager duties: <br />• survey field staff for personal information on site. <br />• water audits, following State of California "Water Irrigation Auditor Handbook" <br />guidelines. <br />• perform site analysis including soil analysis, determining plant species <br />requirements, sun and wind exposure, topography, precipitation rates, available <br />water pressure, etc. <br />• evaluate condition of irrigation systems and make recommendations concerning <br />their improvement. <br />• take water meter readings to compare with billings. <br />Other related duties include: <br />• regularly updating irrigation equipment inventory. <br />5 <br />
