Ibarra, Evelyn
From: Mark Neri <
Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2024 11:25 PM
To: eComment
Subject: School Lunch Gets Thrown Out
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Hello everyone,
Good afternoon, everyone I would like to discuss a very important topic that is a very core to what the city is doing and it
is leading the way, On feeding the people in need. But this issue goes deeper than this. And this is in regards to the santa
ana unified school district and how they dispose of good and useful food. Mayor, and Council Let's say there's a 1000
children that need food and only 500 of them actually go out and get their food. What happens to the rest of the other
food that is not used? And that cannot be fed to the children. The next day they throw it away in the trash. It is the
saddest thing. That I have ever heard that the unified school district of santa ana that prides itself and education first is
being wasteful and throwing food in the trash instead of Donating the food to local charity or people that are actually in
need out there. You know, there are actually families that really need that extra food. That actually go to the school
there in general. I have heard countless stories of parents neeting extra food for their children to eat at home. But the
school district neglects Giving out food and just decides to throw it in the trash. And that is unacceptable for us at
society when we pride ourselves in saying that we feed the hungry when we actually don't and throw stuff away. And
those certificates that are given out shouldn't be given out until these. Route causes should be addressed. Thank you so
much. Have a good day. Hopefully something can get done.
