Club <br /> (Boy Scout Club) <br /> <br /> Trustee Dah], seconded by Lateen amd carried, Tentative Nap of Tract <br /> <br /> No. 1824 was referred to the State Division of Highways for approval. <br /> # <br /> The Clerk read a petition signed by eighty residents of Free~n Street <br /> between Washington Avenue and Seventeenth Street requesting the re- <br /> moval of the city buses from Freeman Street. Carl F. Truitt, 1330 <br /> Freeman Street appeared before the Council requesting that the petitiOn <br /> on file be rejected and that the Bus Company not be asked to change <br /> its route. Mr. Truitt presented a petition containing approximately <br /> sixty-three names stating the signers are in favor of the route being <br /> continued, maintained and operated as now established, and asked that <br /> his name be stricken from the original petition. F.E.McCarter, 1501 <br /> Freeman Street stated he was in favor of the bus line operating on <br /> Freeman Street. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by JerOme <br /> and carried, the petitions were received, filed and request for a <br /> <br /> change in the bus route denied. <br /> # <br /> On motion of T~ustee Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, Map Tract <br /> No. 1630, submitted by Roy Greenleaf Jr., for the improvement of <br /> Linwood Avenue was approved for official signatures and check in the <br /> <br />sum of $756.76 accepted as bond for the improvement of the sidewalks. <br /> # <br /> F;E.MoOarter, 1501 Freeman Street stated he wished to go on record as <br /> <br />objecting to the acquisition of the property located at Third and Bush <br /> <br /> Streets to be used for the establishment of off-street parking lot <br /> <br /> as recommended by the Chamber of Commerce survey. <br /> # <br /> <br /> Communication was read from C, Kenneth Smith, President, Mater Del <br /> Boosters Club stating that the Club is planning a four day carnival <br /> on June llth to 14th inclusive and requesting that the license fee of <br /> $150.00 per day be waived as the funds raised are to be used to <br /> finance the athletic program at Mater Dei. On motion of Trustee <br /> Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the request was denied for the <br /> reason that under the provisions of the Municipal Code the Council <br /> <br /> does not have the power to waive the license fee. <br /> # <br /> Communication was read from Arthur F. Mumper, Property Manager, A.G. <br /> Eldred & Company, together with copy of Resolution which was passed <br /> by l~xe COuncil of the City of Long Beach pertaining to unrented gas <br /> heaters and requesting that the 0ouncll pass a similar resolution in <br /> the interest of the property owners of this area. On motion of <br /> Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication and <br /> <br /> Resolution were received, filed and no further action taken. <br /> # <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> <br /> following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution authorizing the execution of a <br /> Quitclaim Deed# <br /> <br /> to the Trustees for the Santa ~ ~lons Olub for the purpose of <br /> establishing a Boy Scout 01ub House on property located on the south- <br /> east corner of Broadway and Anaburst Place, was read, considered, <br /> designated Resolution No. 53-56 and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
