It was moved by Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, that at such time as the plans and specifications for improvements of Tracts 1705 and 1534 are submitted that they be approved without the install-!i ation of sidewalks and that this approval be made in light of the Ordinance stating that it is at the option of the City Council to request or not to request sidewalks in light of the surrounding territory, and further in the light of our policy that if the proposedi subdivision streets, or extensions of streets, upon which there are sidewalks, or exieting at the time, that sidewalks will not .be re- qulred, otherwise they will be required. # A petition was read signed by twenty-eight merchants in the 2000 block South Main Street requesting the .removal of the trees along the side- walks in the block. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the petition was referred to the Forestry Board for recommendation at their earliest convenience. . A petition was read signed by six property owners on ~msh Btreet questing that one-hour parking be extended on Bush Street from 10th to 12th Street and on motion of T~ustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request was referred to the curb usage committee. It On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request of Lithographic Arts, Inc., ll8 North Sycamore Street, that a loading .zone be established in front of their place of business was referred to the committee on curb usage for report. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome an~ carried, communication from R.O.Todd, 2315 Fairmont Avenue, stating that the trash men refuse~ to pick up a banana palm tree which had been cut up in ~wo foot length~, was received and filed. # Communication was read from E.M.Prince requesting approval to install %~wo bicycle racks and bolt them in the parkway in front of 919 and 9291 West St. Andrews Place, and on motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the request was granted subject to the approval of the Police Department. On motion of Trustee Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the resignation of Alex B~ownridge, as a member of the Library Board, was accepted With regret and the Clerk instructed to write a letter of ~appreclation for his services. It was moved by Trustee Dahl, seconded by Lateen and carried, that in the matter of the application of the Pacific Electric Railway Company for authority to sell and lease certain passenger operative cex~ tificates and certain passenger facilities, that the City Attorney be directed to address a communication to the Public Utilities Corporatio~ of the State of California, a copy to be forwarded to C.W.Oornell, Attorney, Pacific Electric Railway Company, advising that it is tl~e intention of the City of Santa Aha to file an appearance and plea in this matter and reques~i~ additional time in which to do so, and requesting that the City be advised of all hearings to be held under the application. #
