<br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />
<br />Mayor was authorized to sign escrow instructions from Todds Creamery
<br />
<br /> Corporation, for right-of-way purposes on Halladay Street.

<br />On motion of Trustee Larsen, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br />request of the Natiom~l Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 737,
<br />for permission to solicit funds on Thursday night, Nay 7, 1953, was
<br />~ranted.
<br />Communication was read from Amalia A. Eastm-~ protesting the cutting
<br />down of the trees and shooting of birds by City employees, and tee
<br />ing that a tree be planted in the parkway in front of 1322 Orange
<br />Avenue. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried
<br />
<br />1~ matter was referred to the Park Superintendent.

<br />Com~unication was read from Mary Fulle_E/protesting the shooting of
<br />
<br />birds by the Poundmaster and Police Officers, and on motion of Trustee
<br />McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, the matter was referred to th

<br />City Manager for reply explaining the City's position.

<br />On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, the toque
<br />of Jack Huneon that a loading zone be established at 1101 West Fifth
<br />Street was referred to the committee on curb usage.

<br />On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />reports of the Police Department and Building Department, for the
<br />month of April, 1953, were received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />request of Cou~tney R. Chandler for permission to leave the State
<br />from May 16th to June 6th, 1953, was granted.

<br />On motion of Trustee Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />demands as audited by the Finance Committee were approved and the
<br />Clerk authorized to issue warrants for same.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, proper
<br />officials were authorized to execute Lease No. 13860, dated February
<br />1, 1953, between the City and Pacific Electric Railway Company for the
<br />installation of an 8 inch water line on Halladay Street from Delhi
<br />Road to Dyer Road.

<br />On recommendation cf the Purchasing Agent and on motion of Trustee
<br />McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, the Clerk was authorized to
<br />advertise for bids for four automobiles and two motorcycles for Police
<br />
<br />use; bids to be opened June 1, 1953.
