Smith <br /> (First Christian <br />Church) <br /> <br />In Re <br />Ordinance No. NS-5 <br />Providing parking <br />limitations (no <br />parking signs) <br /> <br />Council Chamber <br />Santa Aha City Hall <br />May 18, 1953. 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />Clerk was authorized to open the bids for the construction of a 33", <br />24" and 21" reinforced concrete pipe storm sewer on Third Street <br /> <br />between Pa~ton and Main Street and on Ross Street from Third Street <br />to Eighth Street, as follows: <br /> <br />Bid of Nick M. ~kuho; Bond in ~he amount of 10%. <br />Grand.total $83,891.50. <br /> <br />Bid of A.H.Famularo; Bond in the amount of 10%. <br />Grand total $69,408.40. <br /> <br />Bid of Angeles Construction Co.; Bond in the sum of 10%. <br />Grand total $71,3~0.80, <br /> <br />Bid of J.S.Barrett; Bond in the sum of 10%. <br />Grand total $63,145.63. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the <br />bids were referred to the City Manager and Director of Public Works <br /> <br />for report and recommendation at this meeting. <br />. <br />The Clerk read communication from the Planning Commission recommending <br />approval of a variance submitted by Samuel J. and Mary B. Stronge and <br />Helen B. Smith for the First Christian Church, to construct a ~hu~eh <br /> <br />and accessory buildings with improvements and off-street parking in <br />connection with the use of the property at 1716-22 West 17th Street. <br />Attorney George Tobias representing seventeen or eighteen property <br />owners within the affected area requested an extension of time in <br />order to meet with the Church g~oup. The reason for opposition to - <br />the Church was that 16th Street could not be extended west of College <br />Avenue, if the Church is constructed. Attorney Winthrop O. Gordon, <br />representing the applicants and the Church g~oup, stated their time is <br />limited as it is necessary to meet the terms of agreement and option. <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br />matter'was continued until June l, 1953 in order that the two groups <br /> <br />might reach a compromise. <br /> <br />On motion cf Councilman Jerome, <br />followin~ Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br />seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br /> <br />"Ordinance amending Section 3216 of the Santa <br /> Aha Municipal Code providing parking limitations" <br /> <br />was read, <br /> <br />following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Councilmen <br /> <br /> Noes, Councilmen <br /> Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />considered, designated Ordinance No. NS-5 and passed by the <br /> <br />William Jerome, J.L.McBride, <br />Thomas F.
